Worst Accidental Cut?

I would say that I've suffered two, both as a result of screwing around with MT's doing tasks they weren't meant to do.

The first was a nasty 1" cut up my right index finger from a SOG Power Plier, that cost me 15 stitches/ To keep it consistant, I also received a 2" gash on my left hand as a result of an extremely sharpened Leatherman Original Wave..

Both tools have been in "time out" since these occurred back in 2009.

Cheers,
Serge

I cant look at my knives the same anymore. That achilles mess up will be the thing that kills my side sharpening gig. fuck. i wanna puke.

When i was like 11 I had a multitool and me and my friend were in the woods making a fort. And we were both using the saws on the multitools to cut small trees. Well I'm not sure how but my saw slipped and some how cut along the knuckle of my index finger and i rode my bike all the to my house with my hand in my hoodie pocket cause i didn't know what else to do. It didn't do any real harm just scared me! But I thought I was the s**t going back to school with that big ole cut on my hand! LOL

Worst I've gotten was while sharpenning my RTAK. It had a small chip in it and the blade was slightly rolled on either side of the chip. I put a little extra force to try to straighten it an dit slipped off the rod and right onto my thumb knuckle closest to my hand. Cut a nice 1/4" flap down to the bone. I was extremely lucky since it just missed my tendon by about 1.5 mm. Bled like crazy. Flushed it out with some hydrogen peroxide and stuffed some neosporin under the flap and wrapped it with telfa-pads. Should have gotten stitches but the scar wouldn't be as cool if I did.:p:D

This one I quoted is still my worst but I was able to get a pic of this one :D....Just got my Ultratech Katana and was fondling it and the tip caught my thumb...didn't even feel ANY pain. Just felt like it bumped my finger but this blade is SHARP! Decent amount of blood for a pretty small cut. you can actually see the scar from the quoted incident in the same picture.

My worse was quite minor, but kinda funny. It was the last day of summer vacation and I was around 10. Didn't know knife safety at the time, just running around with a swiss army knife learning things like not stabbing unless the pocket knife has a lock or not using it to chop with your finger out. I also learned not to cut towards yourself... because I had a branch I was turning into a pointy stabbing utensil, that I couldn't cut a branch off of. So I put it on the ground, aimed the blade downwards where my hand was, applied a lot of pressure, and cut my left index finger in two places since I was holding the branch like a staff. Cut pretty deep, though clean. Being a kid, I did the natural thing. Using my right fist to apply pressure and slow the bleeding, I ran to mommy. Finding the slider door locked, I started beating on it with my right fist (which I was still using to apply pressure), while crying and screaming. Mother comes running and sees a glass door with blood running down it like crazy, with me on the other side crying, and just about hits the roof (being a nurse though she rallied within a second). Ended up with seven stitches, only time I've ever had them. Good times, probably my best ending for a summer yet. Almost missed the first day of 5th grade since I was in the ER till 3 am. :)

I dropped a new Seki Cut and it hit my knee blade first and gashed a 5 inch cut that required stitches. Blood all over the place.

My idiot friend decided that it would be a good idea to throw my spyderco at me, while it was open.:jerkit:

This was six days ago, on friday.

Does getting cut with a rock count? This is my youngest son and one of his many "war" wounds. Someone told him chicks dig scars and he just ran with it.

Pitting avocados. I'd seen a TV cooking show where the chef first removed one half of the avocado, held the remaining half (still with embedded pit) in one hand, and stabbed the pit with a sharp knife held in the other hand. Then he just popped the pit out with the flick of the wrist. It looked incredibly cool, so of course I just had to try the same technique the next time I was slicing an avocado. "This is how the pros do it" I boasted to my wife. Do I need to elaborate what happened next? Fortunately, the knife point struck the meaty flesh at the base of my thumb. The avocado ended up too bloody to salvage.

I thought my story was decent until I saw the pictures in this thread :barf:

One of my worst ones was when I was quite young. Probably 7 or 8? I was over at a neighbors and her big brother had a knife in the basement. It looked old and was somewhat rusty. I kept telling her it was dull and she kept telling me it was sharp. So to prove it, I took the knife and ran the blade across the palm of my hand. It was fine for the first 1/2 second, but then the blood started flowing. That was a bad day. And the last day I tried to prove a knife is dull by using my own skin.

What cracks me up is that I get a little dizzy looking at the little 1/2" nicks on fingers, but stuff like the Achilles tendon and that dude's head don't bother me in the slightest. Funny how that works.

About 6 months ago, I was in the kitchen cutting peppers for dinner. I left my thumb sticking out a bit too far and ripped through the tip with a Victorinox steak knife. That was a fun evening. I've never cut myself that bad before and the first thing I did was call my dad and ask his advice. After running it under water, I found that it wasn't that bad so I ended up just gluing it and keeping it clean for a week or two until it finally healed. Luckily, I didn't nick any main cables, so it's completely back to normal.

I've cut myself on a couple production folders, including a Leek and an M16, but nothing even worth mentioning. That steak knife was the worst, by far.

Aside from using one of those older Spyderco cleavers and not once, but twice, chopping through my left index fingernail and taking off a chunk of the tip of the finger. At least I know how to use Krazy glue and gauze to hold everything together while it heals... Takes a while though...

Cutting a piece of hard parmesan cheese (not using a cutting board) and a sharp paring knife. The knife slipped and sunk into the first knuckle of my left index finger. Yanked it out and just wrapped it up. Still have that scar. (That was 15 years ago!)

I'm curious if anyone else experiences this:
Even after 15 years of sinking that paring knife into my knuckle, on occasion, I still get this pins and needles itchy sort of feeling right in that location under the scar.
Does anyone else get that with old, healed knife wounds???

hey guys this actually an impact cut but i figured id show it to you anyway cause its my worst it cut clean through all the nerves and such straight to the bone i touched the bone haha this sounds like a rambo story but i used my trusty paracord bracelet as a tournequet (unraveled of course) had no cell phone i was doing parkour (urban freerunning but getting from point a to b the fastest way possible) but i hit it with my full weight plus the force from my jump on the edge of an aluminum picnic table(this is my shin by the way) but it was sixteen external stitches and i dont know how many internal but i had to walk about two miles on it to a friends house and go to the emergency room it was about 4 inches across and i got a mean scar and still some painful problems with my shin it pretty much cost me my mixed martial arts future and its been over a year and i still have nerve damage and pain

Damn! All these pictures make me look like a p***y. My worse cut from a knife is when a buck 110 snapped shut like a gullotine on my first finger. Lots of blood flowed out, but it was a clean cut so nothing gruesome :D

ok you guys mine isnt nearly as gory, you really win. when i was much much younger like 14 (hard to believe its over ten years ago now) i was really into balisongs (its what got me into high end knives really). so one day my young self is sitting on the edge of a bed flipping my bali when i slip and it drops out of my hand, i feel a little pain in my middle toe. so i look down and its sticking out of my foot with the sides collapsed the handle striking my toe is what i felt oddly enough. so i freak out a little, and then realize that if my family finds out then they are going to take my knives from me. so i gingerly pull it out , and it was only a third of an inch in my foot so i stuffed paper in my sock and went back to flipping my bali :)

ive cut myself a ton of times but luckily thats my worst. for whatever reason i liked to train with live bali's. guess it made me good out of neccesity :)

well apparently I havent posted in this one yet so here it goes, chopped the tip of my middle finger off while testing a newly sharpened bali. thankfully it grew back.

This is after a week or so of healing
