Yep, another pistol

Am I the only one hoping for a camera crew to do a documentary at Mr. Bump's shop?

Show the entire process from drawing to final masterpiece.

A Bump video would be very very cool! Hint hint, Bruce! :D

I kinda like "Coup-de-grace" doesnt it mean "lots of grace"?

Nope, Vorpal is correct. It doesn't quite translate literally, but it means "death blow" or "finishing stroke" as he said. I think it would be very appropriate for that piece.

BRUCE --- the gold isn't on the groundhog --- the hog is inlayed in 24ct. gold. Nothing is plated. I think I engraved that hog about four years back.

OLDRIFLEMAN --- yeah, strangly enough I remember you. It has been some years and my memory isn't that good BUT, I do remember you. Would you believe it ..... I still haven't engraved my 45-90 Wells 74 yet. Client guns have to come first. Do you still want to have that Sharps engraved ?

Yeah I do, but it will be a little while before I can scrape the funds together. What number Wells did you get? Back to topic, Bruce it looks like another fantastic work of art!

My serial # is WKH ( my initials) ---- wanted something special. All the guns given to me from the factories are ser.#ed that way. I know it doesn't many any difference but the idea appealed to me at the time so I always requested my initials for the # and the makers agreed to it. Ken 910-221-5288 kenhurst@suddenlink.net

I have all the parts back from the engraver and have started assembling it for final fitting and making the screws. The engraving is especially nice on this one.

I spent some real time on the liner filework. There are 3 of them and thats allot of filing. Still need to clean to remove any and all oils from everything and do the french grey finish.

The next pics will be the finished gun/knife

Here is one I thought you all would like. Its a coil hammer spring also the trigger pressure/return spring. The cool thing about this set-up is the tensions can easily be changed by shimming or grinding the spring lengths. Next pistol I think I will put an external adjustment screw on the pommel so fine tuning. Some brands of muskett caps fire easier than others so that would be a good feature to have.

Wow, just WOW! The engraving goes perfectly with the damascus and the spring set up is very interesting.

It'd be nice to have a picture of the same thing cocked -- I think I see what's supposed to happen, but might be wrong.

I dont have a picture in the cocked position because of the spring tension without the side plate to support the hammer pivot pin. I could take a shot of it without the spring if you like? The first position is half-cock (safety) and the second position is full cock (hold your ears)

Bruce, do you have a little background/info on the buyer. That may help me find some appropriate name for it.

Patrice

I dont know what he does for a living but he is from France and has a son that goes to college in Montana. He is quite wealthy and visits his son several times per year. This gun will live in France eventually so I wanted a French name with some English Flair. Still undecided and think I will consider all suggestions when its finished. Keep em coming.

Let me see what I can come up with tonight.

Hopefully that French citizenship can finally be of some use. ;)

Bruce,

Feu Lame = Fire Blade

Maybe Patrice can give a more accurate French translation as I dont speak french and used an online dictionary.

I'm thinking Phonetically it would be pronounced Fway La-may

No idea what it may sound like to a french person ???

Not sure of the translation but you could just name it BadazzKnifeGun ! A true insperation as usual Bruce, thanks for posting it.
