Yep, another pistol

I found something to replace the last pistol you posted as my desktop background... I am sure that whomever is receiving this work of art is for sure getting every penny's worth paid. If I had that I would kick my wife out of bed and make a spot for this beaut right next to me every night!

Thankyou guys.
I still havent given this one a name. Any more ideas? Patrice? You're French right? Come on man.

sweet work:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

howsbout.... le feu de poche or "Pocket Fire" ;)

or

les vieilles manières the old ways

it should probably have a play on words.. that'll go over better

G

How about La fleur et le feu (The Flower and Fire).

Bruce,

Can you share the French graying process by chance? If it's a trade secret, I understand, but I definitely love the effect!

Bruce, sorry for being late but it is very hard to find a good name.

I would call it « Liberté ». Or a name including that.
As you surely deduced it means liberty. There is a line in the French national anthem that goes:
Liberté, Liberté chérie, (Liberty, cherished liberty)
Plus the statue of liberty that was donated to the US.
It sounds noble and fits this beautiful gun I think.

If you like it and need help to work on adding something I’ll gladly help.

Patrice

PS: Josh, that would be “Lame de Feu” and “lame” is pronounced like ram is in English, the e is silent.

Perhaps "la vie et liberté" (life and liberty)? Denotes two things worth fighting for, and implies the two-fold nature of that amazing piece.

"la beauté mauvaise" is what babelfish gave me for "the wicked beauty". I like the "ring" of that; if you don't use it, I will for a gent's fighter I have in the works. ;)

Patrice, I like it. Liberty it is. I like it allot. The statue of Liberty is a major tie to France. Very noble. Thanks Patrice!

"Liberte" is a nice choice, sir. Regardless, the piece stands on its own merits no matter what you call it.

...short, sweet and timeless...

Classy... I couldn't agree more.

Just be sure to spell it the French way, since it's for a Frenchman. ;)

Are you going to have the name engraved on the frame or barrel? I think it would look lovely in a nice "script" or "handwritten" font. Maybe on the opposite side of where the caliber is engraved?

My heavens Bruce, you have made my day. Again. That's just wonderful. Naturally I've saved all the pics for reference. Gun show this weekend, and in addition to looking for a big ammo can for a new quench tank I'm going to be looking for a barrel. Who knows, one day I might let all this inspiration take hold... You and this work are very special to me.

Would you recommend a particular caliber for a first project? If that ever gets off the ground I'll probably pester the living daylights out of you with questions where to get stuff and how to set up my milling machine and on and on. Sorry, but you started it. :D

You know, I just noticed you took that little forward swoop off the front of the frame. How come? Functional or esthetic?

If someone's asked this already and it's been answered, I apologize. I admit to not having read all the posts.

Just a slip at the grinder and it was gone:D

For your first one I would buy a cheap .22 and cut it down to fit a frame. If you are going to keep it and never sell it just keep the standard cartridge breech. You could build a hammer and trigger but you dont need to go the muzzleloading route.

Glad to be of help Bruce. The gentlemen might like it more spelled in English as another indication that is comes from the states.

Hey that's a great idea! I'll take that under advisement and see what I can find. Thanks Bruce.

What a gorgeous piece of work Bruce !

That little guy looks like it has some mass to it. Solid !

Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful !!
