I've got it Ford-5 and scattergun-1. Doesn't look good for the shotgunners.
And just who the heck is Jim Thompson and why isn't he here?

Well imagine that

I'm far from a Hinderer expert having only owned one but after looking at the pics from yerscatterguns for sale thread, is it just me or does something not look quite right about the XM24 ?

The thing that caught my eye was the S35VN marking, something about that doesn't look right.

That's how the earlier ones were in fact marked but doesn't mean it's real. I've never done any research on fake knives so I have no clue.

Nonsense removed. If you can't be helpful here don't post.

Sounds more and more like Fraud has been committed, I hope I'm wrong.
If I was Either of the guys involved I'd want it resolved as quik as possible.

I admit it doesn't look good for the seller yet I like to hold on to the thought of honesty in everyone....
Archaeic I know in this world but hey ;)

This is a bit off topic, but I'm struck by the fact that the seller used a padded envelope to send a Hinderer. I know many have used padded envelopes without problems, and they're very quick and easy to pack, but I've had a few close calls (torn packages) when knives have been shipped to me that way. Boxes every time for me. Mike

This was my first thought too; an envelope for an XM24 is unnacceptable.

Anything I ship goes out in a box that is glued shut (and then taped as well) to ensure it's too much work to bother tampering with.

I continue to hear about knives going missing and it seems more often than not it was sent in a envelope that arrived without it's cargo... Food for thought.

I doubt will be hearing back from the seller but I have to admit I'm interested to see what he has to say if he does in fact decide to speak up.

I don't trust people who
start a new line in the
middle of their sentences
kind of like this. Also,
generally if you see something
too good to be true
such as a $550
XM-24, it usually is.

Edit: I apologize.

Not helpful.

Why anyone would ship a $600+ folder in a padded envelope is just beyond my particular realm of understanding. You are basically begging for problems, damage, theft, and potential injury to postal workers. Lack of insurance is also a huge mistake. As is not sending something like that via signature confirmation.
All I can say is that things are not adding up, someone is obviously either severely confused or lying through their teeth. But i promise you one thing, whomever the liar is is going to ride the plank out of here, never to return. This is exactly the kind of thing that we will not tolerate here. Also, as rycen put it...if you are not going to add to the discussion, please refrain from commenting. We need to get this issue resolved once and for all.

If the package was sent uninsured, and paypal was used as the payment method, then I can't see how a scammer could profit, as the buyer is presumably going to get a paypal refund due to the obvious weight discrepancy..? Or am I missing some devious scheme?

edit; the other thing that seems odd to me is that the buyer did not contact the seller before posting here. As the knife was advertised as insured, surely the first thing to do if the knife was missing, would be to ask the seller to file a claim?

I couldn't agree more, which is why I started this thread in the first place. It doesn't look like he will be refunding me so I will have to ride out the PayPal claim which won't go to there decision until 6-12-14.

Giving the seller the benefit of the doubt on original intentions - there is very hard evidence that the knife was not in the envelope when it was weighed and shipping label printed. Insurance -as promised - seems like it was not taken. So, therefore it is obvious that the buyer did not get the knife as it was not in the package when shipped. Simple for any upright forum member here to remedy >>> REFUND THE BUYER. If the seller wants to maintain/fix his rep here - he should do so immediately.

Currently unaddressed issues:

1) Why two names?
2) Why a fake address?
3) Why no insurance claim?
4) Why a request for the PP payment to be a gift?
5) Why the interest in a fake Hinderer?
6) Why the avoidance of addressing these issues?

How many times must we ask? Your silence, yerscattergun, is damning.

Insurance by the seller would have solved the whole problem! Why on earth would you ship such a valuable knife without it?

If that all connects, this is the craziest thing I have seem in a long time....

There are so many questions that have not been answered, but to me, the most important one is why hasn't the seller done the following:

The package was sent insured as per the add. If this is the case, refund the money, and get it back from FedEx....

This is what any honest person would do in my opinion.

If you sent a $550.00 knife not insured, it is your liability.

Refund the money, and learn.

Seems really simple, and there has been no real argument put forward that the OP did anything wrong.

Refund the money, deal with the BS you caused yourself.

I clicked on the link about the fake Hinderer. He (yerscattergun) apparently bought 2 Chinese clone Hinderer's. Posted pics but they were deleted.

Based on that thread alone, I would say he's a POS scammer and thief. A real piece of work. Although since he apparently shipped a 50 buck Chinese fake then that would explain why no insurance.

Oh what a tangled web we weave...........

Mods should lock him out of deleting or editing that post. That is clearly damning and at least for me is clear what happened.

1. Buy fake hinderer.
2. Sale fake hinderer.
3. Use funds to get real hinderer.
4. If found act like victim hope for benefit of the doubt.
5. Crap forgot to delete/edit post looking for fake hinderers.
