I just did my first trade. I set up the rules. I ship first. they look at it just to see if I missed something when I put up the item and told all about it. I had tracking and made him sign for it too. that way I know the person can not claim they never got it. he looks over the knife that is in trade. then he shipped out his knife and I received it. no problems. we where both gold members.

No offense but a nonpaying member with 0 feedback and a low post count coming to me for a trade gets 0 trust from me- unless I know them- and would be required to ship their end of a bargain first, period. I don't find that unreasonable. If I come to you for a trade maybe that's different, not likely for me to do that though. However, if I recieve your item and it is as described and I have agreed to trade with you then that's that, you will be getting the item I agreed to trade you. If your item isn't as described, you will be getting it back. Every now and then someone will break their word for no reason other than having a second thought , or maybe they got a better offer after they agreed to your deal and in that situation they go on my do-not-deal-with list.

I have always heard that a trade was not a trade unless both parties are happy.! He got the Knife and changed his mind and was not happy ~~ now what is wrong with that.?? He does need to pay for the Shipping & Handling though.**

I guess my trade was a dream trade then. I seam to read on the boards about a trade that are going bad. why is that?? can we get a list of all of the bad trades so every one can go there and look at the names??

BF is an easy place to avoid contention. Be willing to undo a transaction if there's dissatisfaction. I don't care whether the person's story is legitimate or not. Restore point - before the transaction, no need for confrontation. I will decide for myself whether I'll ever do business with that person again.

Well it turns out that he refused the package and put a new address on it. He stole it from me and sold/traded it to someone else here in the forum. What a world class piece of shit! Now I am out a knife. Ripped off via the Blade Forums classy.

Sticking to USN's Cove for now on. 33.3% lose ratio is not good on here. Like my original post. Don't trust? Don't trade!

I'm really confused by your last post. It does not square with common logic and normal procedure. If he simply refused the package, then it would be returned to the sender or the return address on the package. If he re-addressed the package, then it does not seem that it was a refusal, and he would have had to re-mail it and pay new postage. How do you know he sold/traded it?.

At what point were you forced to trade or sell on Blade Forums?......and how is it the Fault of Blade Forums rather than you or the guy you did business with?????

SDHEathen,

you are gonna have to do better than simply rave and blame the forum.....perhaps I am missing some key piece of the puzzle here.

full moon tonight?

When the trade gets to be over $100 I get nervous but before the trade I do my research and if the person has any these history I find the people he traded with, send them an email or pm and ask for their opinions, if he has no history, I have him ship first.

To date, no bad trades, no bad deals, knock on wood.

If he refused it, how was he allowed to put an address on it? Shouldnt it have been sent to the return address? I ask because I don't ship many things.

If it turns out that he did steal it then this is the proper place to out him.

With 200000 members and nearly 20000 active the actions of one new member is not the norm so don't lump everyone in with one turd. Yet everything you do is your choice if you prefer some place else have it.

Sorry, I would be pissed if I was out one of my Benchmades too.

I agree with you wholeheartedly.. Trouble is that there is really no facts to speak of and no other party identified. Has the other party even been notified of this thread?

Usually when someone scams someone here, all the pertinent facts are known right up front. That has not happened here. The story about refusing delivery and putting another address on the parcel is a bit over the top.

I will stick with the old saw in research; Incredible claims require incredible proof . While the OP may have been scammed, he does not seem anxious to disclose the facts

Very true pwerfel, I was assuming after looking through his post history. Learned a decent amount but you are right I shouldn't assume until the facts are on the page.

I would be one sad camper if my Bedlam were anywhere but my pocket. Lucky for me it is going nowhere.

SDHeathen, do you think we could get more details about this deal, such as the other persons name? If they really did this then it would benefit the community to know who did this so no one else falls for their scams.

If you already said you are not going to trade with me. I don't need your continued trolling of nonsense. And I was not blaming the forum, I said I was going to stick with another for trades. Where you need a non-free email account for verification. But your a GOLD MEMBER, so obviously you are way beyond us common folk.I bow and apologise sire. * bows head and slowly backs out of the room*. hahahaha yo

UPDATE

After calling the USPS and an hour on the phone. I opened a case in concerns to my package. Info I received was.....Due to the refusal of the package and that it was returned to the local post office from a home delivery it must go through the main midwest regional sort facility. In that region it goes to Aurora,Co. It now will sit there for several days so it can be inspected and then reshipped to the original sort facility. I should get a letter/notice in the mail. I will have to go to the local sort facility here in San Diego with I.D. that has my current address on it that matches the one on the package. I should receive a phone call within 1-2 week days (Friday or Monday) concerning the open case. The refusal was the cause for it to go to Colorado. If the package would have just been reshipped I would of had it today or tomorrow. They did put me at ease when they told me that they can not accept a refused package if it appears to have been tampered with or the original label has been altered.

Moral of the story is this....Tell the person you changed your mind on the trade and then RELABLE AND RESHIP, start over from scratch! A refusal of a package left at your door and returned to your local post office will result in a nightmare.

That being said, I should be getting the package back by sometime late next week, fingers crossed!
