You have expensive folders, i know but...

My cheapest knife. A licensed Emerson clone that I paid $3.68 on Amazon.

Posting a picture is promoting? I'd love to hear the moderators opinion on that rather than the lynch mob. If posting an image of any Ganzo is against the forum rules this should be stated officially. The guy started a thread about liking cheap folders but because the lynch mob don't agree with his choice of picture accompanying the post, a knife inspired by but in no way a copy of a popular knife, he's getting creamed.
Go back and actually READ the post I was referring to. Then READ the post I made. You are all over the map here. I'm talking about a poster recommending the ganzo rip off and design theft of the Benchmade Bedlam. And nowhere did I say it was against the rules. I did say the community thinks it is unacceptable. If you post proudly about your clone knife and recommend it the community here will let you know exactly where we stand on such things.

If you are going to defend this cloning garbage you may want to pay closer attention to what is being said.

Just an observation. OP posted a picture without stating what knife it was.

Everyone that posted after that is actually promoting the knife by naming the knife and associating it it the other knife by calling it a clone.

How the internet works is when someone does a search of either name, this thread will come up (more often the more times it is mentioned).

There is no such thing as bad publicity. More clones will be sold based on the publicity.

It would be better to just report the original post to the moderators and not comment about it.

Unless you just like drama.

Like the kind one creates by jumping in and making cracks about the people who object to clones?

If we sit idly by we are tacitly accepting the clone industry. That's why people raise a stink. They object to the clone industry and how it hurts our hobby and our fellow members who make knives for a living.

I guess others choose to just raise a stink about the people who object to the clone industry. Seems those people who object bother them more than the cloning, I guess.

Wasn't a crack, trying to share knowledge.

My comment was how NOT to promote clones. How you twisted that into a statement supporting clones is beyond me. If you want to continue to argue for the sake of arguing, carry on.

You make a valid point. I just Googled S-ebenza Clo-ne (take out the '-') and the first hit is Liarexpress, the second hit is a Reddit group and the third hit is BF. We need to be mindful of the fertile ground a place like this is for mindless search engine crawlers.

At the same time we can't run from an opportunity to educate and exhort folks who end up here seeking to learn about clones. Although we may differ in our definition of what's makes a clone, a counterfeit, a knock-off or an "inspired by" knife, we can all agree that theft is wrong. I think we should also agree that theft of creativity or even failing to reward innovation is bad for any industry.

I've read some passionate arguments defending the benefit of clones but at best they're selectively applied and highly situational. Our stance as enthusiasts should be very clear.

Although it sucks to think we might inadvertently share knowledge about these clone products, at least we can devote ourselves to sharing that knowledge in a kind, firm and unified way.

So, to sum it up, if you don't agree with me, you're bad for the knife industry. Get on board, wouldja? ;)

Your comment was to not object to the promotion of clones because objecting actually promotes clones more. So promote away you clone fans!!!

We can see examples in this thread that some do not agree that theft is wrong. That Ganzo is a Benchmade Bedlam copy. It is blatant. They also stole the axis lock. The person who posted that knife and recommended that others buy it posts all over the forum, and a lot.

I like my Moras, Opinel #8, a big Rough Rider trapper with ugly yellow scales, a couple SAKs, few CASE slipjoints including a mini trapper, and a lightweight Endura 4 I found on sale for under $50. There are so many great options. I prefer to carry my more expensive knives, but that's more for aesthetics than utility.

I grabbed a few CS Voyagers in various sizes and iterations when the AUS-8 was being phased out and discounted. I can't kill them and they provide good functionality for the price.

I also enjoy the slice-ability of the RAT-1 (and 2) which I also have in both AUS-8 and D2.

I purchased an injection 3 at the original price and felt it was well worth it (I did wish they had cut out the liners to match the grips, but that would have raised the price). The price now (I have to believe the stock is limited) is ridiculous. I bought one to give away. :)
