You Know You're a Knife Knut When...

Now that is just wrong. I mean, as long as everything else is taken care of.... :)

Agreed. She giggles about my "obsession" as she puts it. At least those are sites I don't have to clear out of my cache.

You justify spending hundreds of dollars on a tool just to cut paper with it.
You need to cut something you reach over and grab a razor blade instead of your knife.

You own a razor blade! Why do you own a razor blade? Let alone use one over a knife? You have much to learn young grasshopper. If you ignore the razor blade you have an excuse to buy a beater knife/knives and portable sharpening equipment if you really want to push it.

Hair whittling sharp anyone? Yeah I'm trying to learn to get knives that sharp right now, I think that instantly qualifies me.

You might have to clear them out if you've secretly been looking at what I call "high end models." :P Those expensive knives might worry her. ;)

..... when playing Monopoly with your wife's family you have your own board peice.

..... when you make your own sheaths because you are a lefty

That's a really cool sheath... I am a lefty myself, wish I had a couple folder sheaths like that and a couple more for some of my fixed blades...

You have a knife under each pillow and the first thing you notice in COD: Ghosts is that they used a cheap/terrible knife

Whenever you get a new knife in the mail, you want to film it.

I shop online a lot. I like to get clothes, games, sometimes new tech equipment...

But none of that stuff compares to the level of anticipation when you order a knife and know it'll show up in a few days. That sort of excitement is in a category all its own.

Well, she knows the two knives that I want and knows they are pretty expensive (ZT 0302 and Busse TGLB) and as long as I don't buy them, I am safe. I will be pushing for the Busse for Father's day this year since I am getting her something expensive for Mother's Day. :D

Yes they did. I like seeing knives in any game, but that was one of those instances where you just know they spent zero time researching effective military use knives... oh well.

I also tend to like a game more if I can do "cool knife attacks" with my character. :P

Those sound great. I've always wanted a ZT or a Busse I've just never been able to save enough to get one... other expenses come up or I find a cool cheaper knife I have to have, I'm terrible that way.

I know what you mean. These two knives would be "easier" as the Busse is what Darryl carries in The Walking Dead and we are both huge fans. Gibbs in NCIS carries the ZT and we are fans of that as well. She likes knives too, but not to the level I am at. I got her a few blades for Valentines day and Mother's Day in the past. I think that is another thing that makes me a Knut!

I'm trying to get into that show because of Darryl and the fact I know there's probably some cool knives to see in it.
It's good you have some common ground with the shows and knives in general, that makes any "arguments and logic" easier. ;)

Don't forget Arrow, Slade uses some cheap tacti-cool swords. I have held those type of swords at a gun show, it wouldn't surprise me if they snap if you tried to cut an apple with it.

Hannibal, he uses a spyderco harpy.

Walking Dead, NCIS, we already touched on some of those knives.

Yeah your a knife knut when you can spot these things.

I was watching Good Eats and Alton Brown was using a Kershaw Blur to cut some okra. I did a double take when I saw it, but it was clear as day. Knuttiness!!

I know I'm a Knut when I look at the clock or check the time on my phone and think of Benchmade product codes, 940, 710, 755 etc.

I know I'm a knut when I can't wait half an hour for ups to get here with my new spyderco nilakka

Yeah I recognized the Harpy right off and I saw that about 10 years ago!

Watched a Steve Austin movie recently, Cold Steel Spartan there.

...you maintain a spreadsheet with details like name of knife, date purchased, amount paid, technical specs and date of last sharpening. And you keep the spreadsheet on your phone so you can reference it when you're out and about.

...you have to add a separate rider to your homeowners' insurance just for your knives.

...realizing you left your knife at home induces a panic attack.

...realizing you left your knife at home doesn't matter, since you still have 2 spares.

...you've ever spent over an hour slicing different things to figure out which knife does the best job on different materials.

...you've ever told a perfect stranger, "Don't do that, you'll ruin the edge."
