Your best and your favorite fixed blades....

The best; a couple of customs, one by Phil Wilson, and one by Doug Mondt, both in CPM steel, CPMS90V and CPM10V respectively.

My favorites ( non-custom) ; Moran DP, CS Master Hunter, Frosts Tri-Flex, and A G Russell Deer hunter.

Gotta say" Mission MPT." She bends but won't break, sweats but don't rust and cuts like crazy!

I only carry fixed blades in the field and I don't get there often enough! That said, I carry a Spyderco Bill Moran Drop Point or the "larger" Fehrman First Strike. If I need more than that I'll get an axe.

Fallkniven makes some great products:thumbup: but I've been real lazy in getting any of them:(. How would compare the F-1 to a Mora 2000?

I LOVE that Anso!!

Thanks! I waited a long time for it. I still remember when I first saw one of his sheepsfoot designs several years ago. Too bad he has moved on to almost exclusively making folders now.:(

For the price fallkniven is unmatched in strength, sharpness and easy to maintain.

mmm,
Yes-titanium. It's not for everyone but for me it's Mission's MPT. Their prices are sky-high now. OUT.

I may have to get one and see how it compares to my fully customized old style RD-4...

Thanks for the response and I have one last question: is the handle hard plastic feeling or more tacky and grippy?

I've got a CS Trailmaster, the san mai 3 one, it goes pretty good. I really flog the crap out of it on my property. I use it for clearing bush, trimming branches off trees, splitting hardwood for the fire, cutting up food for my dogs and anything else that requires heavy cutting work. It holds an edge really well and takes all the abuse I throw at it without any problem at all.

I once split an old gum fence post with it and it got stuck. I kept bashing it with the baton and it eventually went through. When it came out, I noticed a few little "teef" on the edge. I then realised that when the knife got stuck, it was hard up against 6 x 3mm guage nails. It cut straight through them with minor damage the the edge, hence the little "teef".

Anyway, great knife for thrashing, would recommend one to anyone wanting a knife to abuse the hell out of for any sort of bush type work.

Tinus Beakus Gentlemans Side Knife, Bob Dozier Professional Guides Knife, (both from AG Russell), Lamont Coombs 5" Hunter, Marbles Expert II, Camillus OVB Fisk Bowie, Kopramed Stag Bowie, Kullervo Puukko, Helle Jubileum Puukko, Spyderco Perrin Bowie, Cold Steel Bowie. Thats all, I guess I'm a little light on fixed blades. I will have to buy some more.

Can't pick a favourite.... too many good ones, but I'll try.

Production: SOG Pentagon. Got this in a trade and I think its one cool knife, for the price. Cuts like nobody's business and holds an edge real well. I got a guy to make me a kydex sheath for mine and its a winner. Very easy to carry concealed, which is a big plus. I've got a CS Trailmaster in San Mai in-coming, and I suspect that's gonna be a fun toy to play with.

Custom: I just got a Jones Brothers Entry Tool. Its so bad-ass I just love it. Its a 7 inch spear point with this super cool coating on the blade like you find on Sig Sauer pistols. Its just awesome. I used it the other day to dice up some chicken necks for the dogs and while it wasn't as sharp as it should be, it didn't have any problems chopping those suckers up. (I know, chicken necks aint that tough, but gimme a break, I just got it!) :D

mmm,
The handle on the MPT feels like a Glock, if that makes any sense. More like smooth G-10, that's it! Post if you get one.

My Rd-4 is my beater and with a coating of tuff clothe it never rusts. Besides who knows what I will get?:D (an F-1 might be next!)

My favorite by far is my Cold Steel Mini Gurkha Kukri in Carbon V. It is extremely tough and holds an edge like no other!

I also enjoy my CS Peacekeeper I
