Your best and your favorite fixed blades....

My favourite is the Fallkniven F1.
It is about the size as the Moras I grew up with.
It is so strong that I have no idea how to break it.
It is light enough to be carried everywhere.
It is unmilitary enough to be accepted everywhere.
It is always sharp.
It is mine. :)

I tend to favor my Entrek Javalina for most outings, also trade off with a Tops Pasayten. Keep an old Ek bowie in the truck just in case...

Having only two fixed blades I think my best and my favorite is the newest one I just got and it is the Browning Crowell and Barker Competition model. I still like my little 4" Entrek though and it will likely get a lot more carry time than the Browning.

love my entrek, too. my javalina has withstood gross amounts of abuse with no signs of slowing down, a literal life saver, once

I love my Cold steel master hunter, CRKT ABC Hammond, and my RD-4

Those are my favs but I plan on buying a Fallkniven F-1.

It is my Simonich Mid-Tech Raven Combat Tanto in CPM S30V. But sadly, I think I will sell it someday in the near future. Cheers!

Best, I'd say my bushman, fave is a western hunting drop point, my first "real" fixed blade. It feels amazing in my hand to this day, after a lot of expensive knives have accumulated. I have an F1 in the mail, though, so things might change.

My favorite for hunting are: big fixed is Fallkniven A1. Small fixed - Bark river Upland special or
custom knife with blade from Finland blacksmith Kankaanpaa

Kankaanpaa cuts trough meat like laser and keep edge great!
And cost only 10 euro!

I am a knife-slut. I change with the wind... once totally enamored by my late Dad's old S. Pacific WWII USN KaBar - then a Western #66 - then a Marbles Woodcraft - then various Pumas - including the neat older White Hunter my wife shocked me with, etc. Last fall, it was the new Buck #408 Kalinga Pro in S30V I have pictured below (Note it's sibling folder the #419 below it - and this year's polished 110 from a Christmas 'collector's tin' - I know, they are folders... sure easier to put in your pocket!).

Of course, I went a little nutso since Christmas - found some Bark Rivers at a decent price - now have five (Huntsman, Fox River, Gameskeeper, North Star, and TUSK). They are fantastic - easily the best - but which one? I cannot decide... but that Buck 408 K P is nearly as well made - fantastic knife, too. I told you... I am fickle!

I love that Rd-4!

How's the coating on yours holding up? I got mine without it and was wondering if an Rd-7 would be better for having it.

I am crazy about my F1. It is so simple, but so perfect!

I am about to get an F1. I don't know if I will buy it online (at eBay, probably cheaper) or locally at a cutlery store here in my city (it is going to cost a little bit more but I won't have to wait for it at all). My biggest concern now is.... WHERE TO GET A KIDEX SHEAT LIKE YOURS! I guess that if I had the chance I will probably go black but even in red it looks great. I don't like at all the plastic sheat provided with the knife.

Where did you get that sheat? and... uh... could you tell me how much did you pay for it? If anyone else has same usefull info feel free to answer here or pm / email me.

My favorites would be my Randall #23 and #14 for sentimental reasons since they were the first good knives I owned after drooling over Randalls for years as a kid.
My best knives would be either a Charles May Holt Collier special or Dozier pro guide or Dozier Master hunter flat grind.

You got reallllly good tastes!!!!!

MTF3, that is definitely one beautiful stack! As for my favorite user,it's a cold steel master hunter in carbon V.

Something very comforting about carrying a large FB when in the bush - it's a Browning Barker for me. If traveling lighter, then a Becker Crewman or a Grohmann.

I notice you are using that when it is snowy out. How's the corrosion resistance on that knife? I really want to get one but am trying to learn as much possible first.

MM,

The carbon needs care, but it's a labor of love. I just wipe it down and oil it a tad. I will just let it fully patina to give it a more traditional look - it'll get there eventually anyway.

For me, it's a working blade, so as long as the edge is good, that's fine.

Thanks. My concern was that it was rust like my carbon steel opinels. If I breath on them they rust within the hour.
