Your favorite dedicated hurtin' knife

I guess these are what you would consider hurtin knives

For me, it's my CS Recon 1..

I would love to ccw, but there is a little issue about working on a base, and not wanting to risk the consequences of getting caught. Sometimes carrying a gun just isn't possible.. For that, I like a big, beefy discreet folder.. A weapon that can be excused as a tool (no MP will believe an 8 inch Kbar is for opening my lunch package, or breaking down boxes...

Antdog, I loved the joke in the beginning and definitely understand about your friend in the later post. I have some acquaintances, and know a few terrific guys here on the BF, but I only have one true friend. He's been more than a brother to me for 26 years.

Now as far as the OP's original question on the hurtin' knives. Hmmm, any one of these will do if the AR and Glock run out of ammo.

Awesome collection bro! Got all the bases covered!

My knives are just tools. I carry a concealed handgun for defensive purposes.

Again with this? You gotta gun. You are all of our hero now.
Look at a Fairburn Sykes fighting knife and tell me its tool side.
If you buy into the PC all knives are tools, you're in denial.
Like saying all guns are for gathering food. Psssh.

I have been thinking of something more stabby/slashy in the folder department though...maybe a CRKT Hissatsu???

What's that knife in the picture with the tomahawk?

Nice battle rat BTW!

My hewing spear. Sorry, I don't have any pics. :(

If spears are disqualified for not being a "knife" do swords count at least? :)

People might consider their knives tools only. But, see how fast that changes in a life or death situation if that firearm becomes inoperable.

I'm surprised there aren't more votes for the Halo V. Anyone that's held on knows it's got primarily one purpose. I'd also vote for pretty much any of the larger Microtech OTFs, especially with the dagger edge sharpened on both sides. MT also makes a pretty viscous tanto edge...scary sharp! However, like a couple other posters mentioned, my primary means of self defense is a sidearm. Of course in any self defense scenario the goal should be to safely escape versus engage, and if I only had a knife, then engaging would certainly be a last result.

I have a lot of knives that would put the hurt of someone, but I've been on a Gerber mkii kick as of late.

Its a new model so its dang near butterknife dull, but its a pointy sob. 8oz and has a real presentation.

Of course, it would only come into play after the 92fs, 1911, or .357 ran dry.

I have no plans to have a knife for defense or offense as mine are tools and not weapons, I have a pistol for self defense.

I have been in a knife fight years ago as a kid and when using a knife both parties get cut up with arms flying. My cuts were not as severe as my opponents but my weapon cut me almost as much as it cut him. When you swing to hit them and miss it is sometimes your opposite arm that gets hit.

I chose my pistol as my defense or offense weapon.

If I did buy a fighting knife it would be a sword, probably a Gladius.

Complete ditto there.

Don't try to engage me with your "tactical" knife. It'll be the ol "knife to a gunfight" cliche.

I don't get the whole fighting knife thing, anyway. If you just like them, great no further justification for owning them is needed (I own way more hunting knives than I'll ever need or use.). But
