Your Longest-Running User Knife?

Cold Steel voyager. bought it just over a year ago and put it to rest about 1 month ago due to blade play. I dont really have any that ive had for longer because I'm WAY too hard on my knives.

I still have the SAK Farmer my father bought me when I was 8, which is 26 years ago now. Although, it has been relegated to beer bottle opener status long ago. Sometime in high school it was replaced with a Gerber LST as my EDC knife.

I've lost and given away some of my older beaters but currently its my CS Mini Tuff Lite. Also my 5.11 karambit. I always get new stuff so a lot of them have been shelved.

My Schrade stockman has been carried daily since the mid '60's. My father bought it for me for
under $20. It was used to cut bait for trapping, peeling apples, slicing cardboard boxes, cutting
open dry dog food bags, cutting rope to tie up newspapers, tighten the screws on my eyeglasses.
Still in active use to slice open my mail and those pesky foil liners on my prescription containers.

I seem to carry things for about 10 years. My AFCK was retired after about that time, although it is a favorite weekend carry. I just put my full size Rittergrip aside for a new BM 943, and I
bought it in '04. Always come back to BM......

I got this in ’94 or '95 I think and it's in my bag basically everywhere I go. I'd say it's been within arm's reach about 90% of the time. Still works great, only problem is the spring on the scissors snapped about 5 years ago.

Cheers,
Adam

Greetings, Adam.

You can order Victorinox scissors spring replacements. Many years ago, the scissors spring on one of my Classics broke, and I got a replacement spring and fixed it with a pair of needle nose pliers. The springs come in different sizes, depending on the model.

At this time, my longest-running, non-stop EDC user is my black Victorinox Executive (about 15 years). No matter what other knives I may carry, this one's always with me.

Prior to that, my longest-running EDC was an old version of the Vic Spartan (sans tweezers/toothpick) that I carried over a decade as my sole knife, until around 1997 or '98.

I've had my Spyderco Native II (C42) for almost 14 years now. Made in Seki City, Japan with Stainless Steel handles and AUS-10 blade steel. Totally scratched up but functions well.

Awesome stuff so far guys! Thanks.

It is..isn't it?! It seems to me, not just from this thread either but Cold Steel and 'most' Spydercos look real well as they get older and used. Heck- I guess you could really say that with any old folder. The brand though I have seen the most pics of (used knives) has got to be Emerson. And I look forward to adding onto the list. I just got my first two Emersons.
Great thread.

I have a Bucklite (424 I think) that my dad gave me for Christmas around 1989 or 1990. I still carry it frequently.

I would guess this is the longest using knife I own as it is the oldest knife I own. I bought it in 1970 with allowance and lawn mowing money---still carry it from time to time but worry that I could lose it:o

1970 CASE 62087 Serpentine Jack...

The hardest used Modern folder---carried the most on and off for a couple of years until I sold it---regret it still:o Whats cool is I've seen it pop up from time to time here on the forum.

Benchmade 710 with coated D2 blade---a real Workhorse:thumbup:

Hands down my most favorite knife and longest continuous carry that I can recall. Carried EVERYDAY for just over one year---taking a little respite know but still finds pocket time

Did a one year anniversary thread here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1165922-A-year-to-the-day

Hi guys,

What knife that you actually use/EDC regularly have you had the longest? How long have you had it? Is it still going strong? We can keep our safe queens for decades of course but I'm interested in the long running knives you actually use and how long they've lasted and stood the test of time. Pics if you've got them!

Al Mar Sere 2K. By far.

I've had it around 15 years. It is still going strong for sure. It is beat to hell, not much coating left on the blade at all, chewed up g10 around the edges, smooth on the flats of the slabs, notches on the handle from using it as a bottle opener, but it still locks up like a bank vault. The blade has been sharpened so many times it has developed a slight recurve. A friend of mine has a brand new one and the blade profiles are night and day. But, it is one hell of a tough knife that has tons of character and I wouldn't trade it for nothin'!

All you guys with SAK's must not use em too much... Still got the damned toothpicks in em!!!!

I thought it was a mandatory rule that you had to lose the toothpick and tweezers in the first month!!!

My CRKT Hissatsu Folder that I bought when I was sixteen; so five and a half years. Even though my taste and collection have expanded to other styles I still love this one particular knife.

It always seems to find its way into my pocket.

Spyderco Delica... I got it 20 yrs ago and it was the first knife I EDC'd Carried it pretty consistently until I got bit by the knife bug a few years back. It served me well for 15+ years and still functions great. The only issue is that it is a little sticky opening. Probably just needs a cleaning. I now carry a benchmade 940 and I will report on that in 20 years

My longest running user is this old Craftsman marked knife . I am not real sure of it's age , but my father purchased it at least 40 years ago . I have carried and used it almost daily for at least 25 years . It is still going strong , at least what remains of it . Heavy use and even prudent sharpening take a toll .
