Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

I got this Imperial Ireland promotional Barlow NOS off the Bay for $12. Fake bolsters, hollow plastic handles, secondary bevel on one side only, but decent enough action and no blade play. I really like it.

Great little Barlow...I also like Ray O Vac...reminds of Duck Dodgers in the 24th and a half Century..😀

This new gem comes courtesy of Jerbhola89 Jerbhola89 . Such a kind gesture. I’m already bonding quite well with this one. I spent some time tonight working on buffing the Micarta. It will be nice to get some new pics in the sunlight tomorrow.

Thanks again Jeremy!

Looks great! I am wondering what you use to buff the micarta.

I have been using Ren Wax and noticed that, at first, it lightens up the fibers, giving a nice contrast. Then, with time, the micarta darkens and the contrast is reduced. I am wondering if that contrast can be restored. Got any ideas?

E ErikMB This is the second burlap Micarta I’ve done with this technique, and it does seem to last quite a while before I have to touch it up. I start with 1000 grit sandpaper and then go up to 1200, 1500, 2000, and then I buff it with a cotton rag with Flitz paste. Didn’t take me very long. Maybe 40 minutes or so.

I just touch up my 47 with a bit of Flitz now and then.

Solingen made Boker barlow SMKW exclusive in acid washed, O1 tool steel, burlap Micarta, and copper pins/liners/bolsters. 😍

It's no secret that I'm a HUGE fan of the Solingen made Boker barlows... But what I'm not a fan of is the finish Boker puts on their Micarta. I think I'll be using this one to practice re-covering and peening. :)
