Hi Jim,I hope you’re earning miles on all those flights from South Africa!
Another beauty, Bob! What’s the wood on that one?
He sure did.Hi Jim,
Lol, thanks, it is Maple burl. I wanted something light with a grain pattern. Willem found a nice piece.
Yanni, that is a gorgeous lamb. Cosimo is a great craftsman. Congrats.
Thank you. The wood is very beautiful but I picked it up late this evening at the relay and the weather was overcast. Tomorrow rain... will have to wait for better picturesYanni, that is a gorgeous lamb. Cosimo is a great craftsman. Congrats.![]()
Just beautiful.
The Pinch Lockback is my favorite lockback of all makers. I’ve yet to see one that didn’t have buttery smooth action and great lockup. The size is perfect and the cant of the blade to the frame just looks like it’d provide more leverage. That’s the first Ram’s Horn with a dog head that I’ve seen. Congrats on that score! You just missed a coppersmith version on the famous auction site last week…it was a little pricey.Fresh from the mailbox. My second Kabar Pinch lockback. AKA the first of my second dozen pinches![]()
Its very clean. The action is silky smooth with a clean snap. No vertical play, but a little side to side wobble. Nothing that would prevent use of the knife. The rams horn feels a little dry, so I'm going to rub some mineral oil on it. There are two small pin cracks. The blade has a little rust on the pile side. I'm not sure what steel it uses. Most of the pinches were D2. I have at least one, maybe two, that have 440c, and the Moore Makers are all 1095. I'm pretty sure the Kabars are D2, but if somebody knows for sure, feel free to educate
All in all, not a bad knife. Not one that comes up too often. One of these days I'll score one of the coppersmith pinches

And the best shield to boot, beautiful! Our annual club knives are just now being distributed. These have probably been done for months. I think Ebony is fitting for a Cotton Sampler.

Thanks Matt…It sure beats the hotdog, that’s for sure! And the best shield to boot, beautiful!
I’ll keep you in mind should I run onto an extra one. Thanks
I've bid on a couple/three coppersmiths over the last few years, but other people wanted them worse than me. I can be patient![]()
