Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

What model Buck is that, specifically? I love all the curves on that, and how they play off one another. Really good looking knife!
The Buck is their Model “The 55”. This one was the Buck of the Month for June with Desert Ironwood covers 154CM steel, and pewter pin.

It really is a nice one!

We have very different experiences with Ahti knives and sheaths.

To be clear, I love the knives... just not the factory sheaths that come with them. They are quality tools at a great price but like most production puukkos out of Finland they come with cheap sheaths.

For my taste, Erapuu has the best factory sheaths but Martiini is a close runner up.

I thought Ahti puukko came with very nice sheaths. At least the four I have did.

To add, the ones I made sheaths for (including the metsa on top) did not come with backsewn sheaths like that.

They came with one size fits all taco sheaths that left half of the handle hanging out and to make them secure you had to push them in so tight it made the knife difficult to get out.

All original. I guess we will have to agree to disagree. Probably also with my 287 other antique/vintage Finnish puukko I suspect (not counting the 50 knives I crafted for a local wounded warrior project several years ago).

I'm not disagreeing. I'm saying the Metsa and the Korpi no longer come with backsewn sheaths as in your photo. The juhla might, as it's their priciest puukko model.

Instead they now come with this (not my pic):

Of which I'm not personally a fan, for a few reasons. I'd also agree that vintage production puukko sheaths are greater than current production puukko sheaths.

Have a good day :) and my apologies to everyone for derailing the thread!

You are right, those sheaths suck. Functional, but definitely not traditional.
I bought my Ahti from Ragnar (RIP) back in '06. I wonder why the change?

I was so impressed by the Manly Wasp slip joint that I ordered their larger Comrade in S 90 V steel. Of course I will remove the offending metal thing that thou shall not mention on trad forum and carry it in a pocket sheath. Edit: it looks like making custom scales to this knife would not be too difficult, so maybe wood scales or micarta would look nice?
