I took some flower bulbs to the widow down the street last week. As she was telling me about how her late farmer husband had collected various things over the years, I shared how I understood his collecting, and that I sort of collected knives.
Before I got away, she had not only given me some flowers (Tall Garden Phlox that I've been looking all over for this spring), but she insisted I take the old knives he left behind when he passed. As a bonus, she also gave me an old Estwing Sportsman's Axe with a stacked leather grip. It seems she had recently found that in a parking lot and tossed it into her Jeep. Well used, but the leather is in really good condition for its age. Ha! That worked for me, because I enjoy refreshing Estwing hammers and axes too. And I didn't previously have one quite like the one she gifted to me.
This Kabar Pen knife is the first of the batch to hit my workbench for some spiffing up.
Along with the knife comes some questions.
Can anyone tell me if this little 2-blade penknife had a model name or number assigned to it?
Would this have been manufactured in the USA?
And by whom?
If anyone has information to share, please do so.
Smaller than a Peanut, it comes in at 2-5/8" closed length. Jigged Delrin scales. And a mighty fine look to those scales too.
Next in line from this batch is a Kabar 1152 Camp/Utility knife. More on that one to follow.
Happy Day. Be safe.
