Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

Got these 2 Buck Creek knives from a guy at work. Stag Large congress and Cobra.

Also got this beautiful Mother of Pearl Hen and Rooster Butterbean

It seems to me that Buck Creek knives are now being made again and look similar (in pics at least) to the original ones which came out in late '70's or early '80's (?) and lasted for less than 10(?) years. I have a bunch of the older Buck Creeks but none of the newer ones. The older ones were made in Olbertz factory as were Eye Brand.
Anyone have any info as to how newer ones compare with the originals ? and if they are made in Germany ? (can be almost impossible to know unless knife is marked "Made in ---".

I noticed a few weeks ago that Dr Scott was on the lookout for a 77 NF barlow in African blackwood and due to the kindness he showed me when I first joined the forum I decided to gift him the one I had. He really seems to enjoy the knife and sent me a message that a thank you note was on the way...this is the "note" he sent

...
My first TC barlow and oh what a beauty it is :D:thumbup:

Scott - this was not at all expected, but is greatly appreciated!

Thank you friend

You are most welcome, Shawn!

I had a very busy day, and had forgotten that I sent it out in the mail yesterday. When I got to the PO, I had also forgotten your last name. So I just sent it to Shawn GB Packer. I joke about dementia, but I hope all my forgetfulness is just due to a busy week.

I know you were unsuccessful in finding a TC Barlow, and I had an "extra" just lying around. I actually was offered an Anniversary Barlow by one of our member dealers. I already had one, but didn't want to pass it up. Normally, I don't buy "duplicates." But in this case, I had in mind that I would try to get it into the hands of someone who was Charlowless.

Enjoy!

Shawn & Scott, thanks for sharing the story of your gifts and gratitude. It's great to see each of you thoroughly enjoying your knives.:thumbup:

First year (1990) for the Buck 303 with "Flat Ground Blades and 3 Springs.
It's my new favorite :D

Very classic, redsparrow! :thumbup::thumbup:
Now that summer is almost here and my life might get calmer for a while, I have to invest some time into finding me a black valox Buck similar to yours!

I totally agree with Tim!! Ryan, that scout is fantastic; congrats!!:thumbup:

I've been fortunate to have taken delivery on three very nice GEC knives, this week. Yesterday, I posted the #73 Tiduote Cody Scout with Green Micarta. Today, I received the two Northfield #77 Barlows. All three are just fantastic GEC examples. Very pleased with the lot for different reasons.

Here are the Barlows. Even got a button. Now, you can't beat that.

With camping season upon us and the bad influence of coyote711's fixed blade thread my last two knives are fixed. I got a LT Wright Camp MUK and a Phillip Patton utility knife.

They both came with great sheaths. The Camp MUK's sheath is on it's way back to the shop to be exchanged for a lefty version. I'm especially excited about the Phillip Patton sheath. I haven't had a horizontal belt sheath before, but it seems like a much more convenient way to carry to me. The less noticeable, both to me and others, the better in my opinion.

I stumbled across this little Case 6208 1/2 Whittler today at a local antique mall. Its a 9 dot and in very good condition. Picked it up at a very reasonable price. My wife said I acted like I had won the lottery. Here it is all cleaned up with a new edge.

Cory - I'm betting you'll find that Camp Muk to be a very useful knife. I love mine, along with its big brother.

Liking that MUK so much that I just looked it up and am debating the jump. Camp season certainly is upon us and I cannot wait.

Corey, two great knives. I have the Blind Horse Knives Mini Muk and it is without a doubt an all time favorite of mine:thumbup:

Very nice find. I should be so lucky. Great job on the clean up......looks great ...... Enjoy!

Thanks for the kind words everybody. The Camp MUK is my first Nessmuk style knife. It feels better in hand than I had hoped. Bead blasted micarta feels good enough that I wonder why it's not used more often. I can't wait to get out in the woods with this thing.

I have a tiny North River by battle horse and it has bead blasted od green micarta as well. I can only imagine they don't use it more often because it's a 'rougher looking' finish than polished off micarta with a sheen. Do show some photos in 'did your traditional get a workout today ii' when you get the chance ;) just to help me want to pull the trigger on one of these even more ;)

556, That is a gorgeous camp knife!

Arrowhd, I believe your wife is correct! Nice! OH

That Case 6208 1/2 is a beauty. One of Case's success stories in my opinion. Nice find!
