This GEC 22 arrived today. I like small knives and I knew this was a small knife, but I didn’t realize how comically small it is! I still like it though.

Yeah, it’s really growing on me tooI have grown to really love those 22s! Great knife for extra jeans pocket.
Another of my all metal lockbacks from Asia. This one is from China but has no manufacturer or distributor name. It does have the same excellent quality I’ve come to expect. The USPS was late delivering today so it’s an indoor window photo with fading light. It’s 4” closed with a 3” blade of VG-10 shaving sharp stainless.View attachment 3089865
The only downside is I find that an all metal knife is liked by a minority of traditional knife users. If you can deal with that you will get a very well made knife at an inexpensive price. Even though they’re scratch magnets I find that just adds to their character.Looks like a nice design. Kind of surprised they used VG-10. I might have to pick one up
100% metal knives with mirror polished handles and blades are also fingerprint and smudge magnets.Even though they’re scratch magnets I find that just adds to their character

I don't no why the makers insist on mirror polishing. Are they of the opinion that they will be used as signaling mirrors in a emergency?
I hadn't realized you had your own sub! Definitely added to my watch list. I really appreciate the oddball knives you share here and on Insta. I knew you first from the CPK Sub, so it is fun seeing you pop up here with an oddball knife that is _ALSO_ somehow traditional.Just got this REALLY odd post-war Solingen Cutlery "Springer" that combines an early deadbolt style lock with a really interesting kick spring pre-load dynamic

Looks to be in great condition. This one came in the mail today. I’ve heard these old Keen Kutters are pretty good knives. It’ll take a little work but I should be able to get a pretty good edge on it.

Not sure on the handle yet. I’ve cleaned it up quite a bit already. I still need to polish the faces and clean the eye out good. The faces are in decent shape with only minor surface rust on the striking surfaces. I wish the logo was deeper so I could clean the cheeks up better but I’ll have to settle for wire wheeling it and fine grit sanding to try to sharpen the edges of the text better. I like smoothing old hammers out so they’re not as susceptible to rust/pitting but I always try to preserve logos if they’re salvageable. I’ve developed a bit of a weakness for rusty old hammers.Looks to be in great condition.
Fantastic score.
Have you decided on what the new handle material will be yet?
Osage Orange or Teak would make it stand out from the crowd.![]()
Oh, there's lots of em...people have been trying to figure a new way to do "folding knife" for hundreds of yearsI hadn't realized you had your own sub! Definitely added to my watch list.
