Well this is definitely a 1st for me :) My wife and I took a short day trip yesterday and on the return trip
home we stopped in a small Antique Store around 40 miles from home. I was looking for knives as usual
and my wife was looking for some Antique Broaches and such. The lady that runs the store has
20 or so vendors that consign their items in her store to sell for them. I came on this one display that
had several knives. So I settled on a Case 6318 SS Stockman, I believe they call it the Workman Series.
It has Blue Synthetic handles and as ground blade finish. The price was less than new price for an as new
knife so I got it. Good trade material. Then I noticed this Douk Douk in new condition, still in the plastic
bag with the factory bar code on the package. I have seen these on the forum before but never had hands
on one before. Well long story short it also came home with me. A very well made knife for the money.

I also had another new one in the mail yesterday, but that is a story in itself :D:eek::D

The exchange is the best place to buy knives. And that's a great way to start!

My first purchase off of the exchange arrived today - I'll be searching for a second one, maybe a third...;)

Gotta love the antique stores, although it's not always easy to get a good deal, congratulations!

Here's my newest. Man, this saw cut is sweet!

These suckers came in the mail today. I thought the queen was going to have winterbottom bone but I got surprised with stag! The bulldog is a 2004, I hear people lamenting the quality drop post 2003 but this seems on point. Amazingly, no blade rub on the congress. Does anyone know what's up with the "edc" on the model number and laser etched over the ats-34 seems odd?

Thanks for the nice comment, Derek. Your Simmons looks to have all the same styling cues as several Solingen Bulldog and Fight'n Rooster knives I own. Same clip blade, swedge and long pull, same frame and domed pins, etc. I believe these were all made at the Olbertz factory, and beautifully made they are, comparing very favorably to today's GECs. Very nice pickup.

Here is a Bulldog for comparison.

Shawn, that Canal Street canittler is totally awesome; congrats on finding it!:thumbup: I've always thought that was a fantastic knife, and until I get a chance at "the real thing", I have a Rough Rider version that I'm pretty happy with.

Another Schrade USA Old Timer that I didn't have an example of, this 61OT Slim Premium Stockman arrived yesterday. OH
...
Very cool, Old Hunter!!:cool: Is that basically a 93OT with a spey blade added?

Arrived yesterday from a place in Okieland( I believe they are a vendor CK.net) .
My first chestnut bone.
I think it's pretty sweet. The camera skills have a bit much patina :p
...
Congrats, knife diet!:thumbup: I'm pretty much crazy about Case's CV chestnut bone knives; yours looks superb. Is that a full-size trapper or a mini-trapper? (If I'm so crazy about chestnut bone, you'd think I'd remember what models are available in that series. :( I guess I'm just focusing short-term: I know I want to get a sowbelly stockman and a Peanut eventually, and haven't got beyond that yet. :p)

Congrats, KP; I especially like that congress!! Wow!:cool:

I guess you HAVE been busy, bozack! ;) What an incredible haul; congratulations!:thumbup: They're all splendid, but the coffin jack really made me sit up and pay attention! :D:D

Magnificent 92, Ron; congrats on that and on your antique store finds! :)

I've got the same knife, it's a great size and great knife imo
I'm actually a fan of the smaller Peanut sized for daily use out of a pocket. Coming across a new old stock USA made OldTimer 89OT(large stockman) in 1095 has given me pause to a bigger=better in daily use. Kind of liking splitting the difference with the chessie Mini Trapper. Happy medium so to speak.

GT - this one is a Mini Trapper(clip and nail nicks give it away) :) I'm loving CV also. It sharpens up super easy and holds it quite well. I've settled at 12 degrees per side and it's working well for me.
Also have a Sowbelly in Stag and a couple Peanuts(as well as Lg and Jr Sodbuster) all in CV.
Get ye a CV Sowbelly! they feel great in use and ride in pocket very well despite their size. The blades on my CV Stag are thin and cut extremely well. A Peanut makes a great companion any time, get one as soon as you can. I'd love one in the Ivy etched Bermuda Green but with CV. Nothing wrong with TruSharp(except it stays shiny ;) )

It's getting tough to decide "which one today?". Usually end up with a Peanut in one front pocket and rotate any other flava in the other. The MT rides better for me in the back pocket.

Wonderful new knives everyone.

Ron, I had been intent on getting a Douk Douk for sometime. Last year Robin Cognet, third generation knifemaker from the family that makes them, was staying with a knife maker friend while taking a bladesmithing class here in Arkansas. And that's how I got mine. Such a great little knife for what you pay. Enjoy the simple beauty of it my friend.

Chris

@black mamba Good to see pics of that Bulldog And you are correct they are well put together. But they don't seem to have the same gravitas/esteem as I think they deserve.
Great for blokes like you an I.... we don't have to cut off part of out anatomy to pay for them;).
Got this Bulldog not long ago. This one has a very slight gap between the bolster and the cover on one side/end... still a sweet piece.

Chris, I am impressed with the Douk Douk. I plan to find out more about this interesting and very economical knife! :)

Mighty fine looking knife ya got there.

Like button double tapp

Marcus, Thanks for the compliment:)

Great looking knife! I really dig the way they did the nail nick with the fancy northfield swedge on those 92s instead of the long pull, really makes them look different
Also looks like the spear points are pointier on the talon as opposed to the eureka jacks, maybe its just a camera perspective thing, my EJ has a pretty obtuse point.

That is pure awesomeness.

Buzzbait, it is pure awesomeness. I bought it in honor of my mother. As a kid in Brooklyn, she told me if you had a skate key, you ruled the block.

5K Q's, it has been a few weeks, but thanks.

Ron

Looks like you snapped up the last of those Northfield Talons with Spear master . A rare bird of paradise!

Thanks, Will
