Trestle Pine Knives - Superior

Copperhead frame, with a wharncliff blade of 154CM steel. The covers are old growth yellow birch recovered from sunken logs in Northern MN, WI and Canada.

Erik, Could you please do a review? I've got my eye on one, but would like some feedback before I pull the trigger.

My initial impressions are positive. For a fair price, you are getting a hard to find and difficult to source handle material, 154 CM steel, and nickel silver bolsters. The wharncliff blade gives the knife a bit of an odd shape when closed but also makes the blade very easy to grab. The fit and finish is good. On a scale from 1-10 and would say it's a 7 with the latest runs of GEC's being an 8. The back spring is flush at the open and closed position. It does have a half stop. The pull is a perfect 7. The walk is a bit gritty at the moment but I expect a good cleaning will fix that right up. It has excellent talk, very snappy. Already bit me... The brass liners are finished a little rough in spots and that creates some insignificant gaps between the liners and back spring. The transition areas between the covers and the bolsters are perfect. I am impressed so far, and plan to order another one in ash.

A friend showed me that one and I brought it up with LastRodeo :D Hurry up and get one ;D for the price you can't beat that review just to try it out.

A Winchester and a Boker. The Boker looks like the new Washington Jacks. It is a little bigger.

That Stepped bolster is my favourite. Can't wait for my JBF knife also with a stepped bolster~

I've had my eye on these too Erik. I think they're a good value for what you get. Your pics make the blade look better than the retailers pics. I'm glad to see the satin finished blade instead of a highly polished finish. The cut swedges lol great too. The wood choices are nice as well.
Thanks for posting Erik.

This is the first i have heard of "Trestle Pine Knives". Are these custom or production & who makes them ? Just this one pattern ? or other patterns as well ?
thanks, kj

Nice Boker. Is it a Boker USA? I've been running across a few of those lately. Solid knives, though not perfectly finished.

The "Superior" is their only folder. They have one fixed blade as well. I believe (not positive) it is an SFO from Queen, so the production numbers are limited.

This came from the Exchange and took less than a week to get to Europe!

Schatt Keystone Swell Centre from 2008 in Wormgroove Bone. A quite large heavy work-knife, excellent W&T, twosprings, minimal gaps. no play. Sharpened up very keenly and I like it!

I've become a fan of wormgroove as well Will Power, the red in yours is astounding. Reminds me and acts as a worry stone.

This took alot of work to get to this point..but it's now one of my favourite pieces in my collection and rotation. A complete reshape into a zulu spear by Bob and eventually a regrind from Tom Krein.
