This month I got a New Opinel garden knife, a new Hook bladed Rough Rider, a 1970's Imperial Ranger Stock man, a New Imperial lock back, Used Taylor made Imperial Stockman, a Camillus 1960's stock man finally I got a the Flea market a Bone Western Stock man that was rusted shut but cleaned up well with some very minor blade pitting.

I spent the Total of 50 bucks on all of it . But Momma said dial it back till after Spring Break.

Just received this Case Humpback Stockman in Rough Black or as it is sometimes called Gum Fuddy. I love this as it reminds me of the first pocket knife I ever owned. It's a little different from most stockman patterns as it has a spear point main in place of the more common clip. F&F is as good as it gets. The only thing I would change if possible would be to lengthen the main blade as it seems to have more than enough room. I may be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time.

What a great pattern and blade combination! I think I have yet another Case to seek out. :o

Got this Case 63090 in Gray Bone from the mailman yesterday. Really diggin' this little pattern.

I have a tiny toothpick in the same material but yours seems to have a much richer color. Great find! I guess I'm going to have to find some #90s

Really enjoying this new addition so far...
Case Junior Scout SS in amber jigged-bone

Speaking of the #90 pattern... I've had an eye out for that variant ever since I learned of it. The amber bone looks a little darker than my big stockman but it's still a looker! :)

I like that...alot! Nice find.

Thanks TsarBomba and mitch4ging, I'm usually a single blade kind of guy, but after carrying this Case for a couple of days I'm pretty sure this one is a keeper. The Spey blade is as close to a pen as you can get, and al three have have 7+ pulls with wicked snap and are sharper than I can usually get them myself. Very happy.

I've got some more "traditionally traditional" knives to show off from the last batch, but I figured I'd post photos of the one that nearly maimed me first. :o

It's a curious piece. First of all, so there's no confusion, it's a Chinese knife. Branded "American Cutlery", it's a 4 1/4" large stockman that could sit next to a Case #75 and look very, very similar from even a short distance.

However, before assuming that it was a CCC knockoff, I figured I'd take a closer look at it. For one, the pull is harder than any of my #75s, and with the sorry state of my fingernails I had made an ill-advised attempt to pull the master clip in an odd way which turned the strong backspring and half-stop into an oddly-effective "auto-fleam". Even though the blade was propelled away from its sharpened edge, it still gave me one heck of a gusher. Days later, and still a reminder to always respect the steel...

As far as the stockman, the blades are of the same classic configuration as most #75s, they're tight and surprisingly sharp, the jigged bone is remarkably nice to grip, F&F is best described as "decent to reasonable", and considering the pittance I paid (worth the risk of it turning out to be CCC) it should serve as a surprisingly workable user and a great way to spell my main #75 in my LFP.

Even the "American" shield seems more classy than cheap, though it would be nicer if it were in brass (brass-toned?) to match the bolsters. Plus, it's 440 so I don't have to be so mindful of the blades as with that Case CV.

If I weren't such a positive thinker  I might start to believe that somebody attempted to buff out the "CHINA" etch on the back of the master... :grumpy:

Did I mention the bone was surprisingly nice?

All told, I would have to put this knife with any of the RRs that have proven to be fairly popular among many here on the porch as far as "import" knives go. There's nothing about this knife (short of maybe that master blade pull -- time and lubrication will tell) that any maker should be embarrassed about, and considering what I've paid for a new #75 in the past I can't really fault anyone for toting this big "American" fella in its stead.

I rarely read about Bear & Sons, and the few I did was to say the least, controversial. So I decided to go and see by myself.
I'm quite happy I did, this blue jean is in the same league as Case or RR : G10 handle, good F & F, nice W & T, pull is a soft 3.5 / 4.

WOW that's a beauty. A very cool looking knife, the shield and scales look great. What model is it? Looks like a sodbuster but it looks smaller than a Jr to me, maybe it's just the picture.

I really like the #77 platform, and the Yankee Jack is my favorite. There's much to be said for a two blade Jack, and this one in Sunbrite Acrylic even glows in the dark!

I received 3 great knives this week, all from the Exchange!

The first may seem mundane, a Case mini copperlock, but it is a user in fantastic condition that I will use without reservation.
The next is a brand new unused GEC #47 Viper that was made this year. It is perfect and I got it for a great price.
Last is special. It is a Case one arm open Barlow (1982) in stag that looks unused. I love the Viper, but this is cool on so many levels.

Finally pulled the trigger on this 3 7/8" Nieto Wasp after eyeing it for a long time. How good could it be for $40? Excellent was the answer, haven't been this happy with a cheap knife in a long time (ever?). Action could use some breaking in, but it's tight, snappy and sharp with great finish all around. Real beautiful design and I'm a sucker for Cocobolo.
