Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

Great catch, Jake, Pasi is the real deal, congrats.

Kris

Thanks Kris. Your review of your Pasi gave me the push to look for one.

I can see exactly why his knives are coveted. I was surprised at the little extra heft that this knife has but when you examine where the balance point is and feel the taper of the handle, it really melts into your hand and that heft gets absorbed nicely. His grinds are very even and it became amputatively sharp after just a few light passes on the strop.

New copper lock mini

Another amber bone beauty! Great pickup, gonebad!

Hey Tim...start using these beauties that you're getting!! I want to see action shots. The more blood the better!!! Leave the coasters for the beverages hahahahaha
Fresh in the mail today. Pasi Hurttila "Touhisarvi" Puukko. Hand forged K510 silver steel, with stacked birch bark handle, reindeer antler accents and brass ends.

 Jake's got the bloodlust now that he's got his puukko! ;)

While it is a bit strange to get a GEC-produced knife that comes in a box rather than a tube, I have to say, Smith & Sons put together a pretty nice little package!

(Still came wrapped in wax paper, so it wasn't entirely without that GEC-packaging feel, and they also included a nice dark brown leather lanyard.)

It really is a good looking knife. A little bigger than I would normally prefer for pocket carry, and I'm not really a sheath guy, but I mostly bought this one to use as my truck knife, and for that it should be perfect.

I like the looks of that knife, Barrett. Nice packaging too. Thanks for showing it.

I too received a Mudbug yesterday. Neat knife and I really like how thin it is. Locks up completely solid w' no wiggle at all, which I can't say for other GECs lock backs that I've owned. This knife was by far the sharpest GEC knife I've ever received. I have to believe Smith & Sons touched up the edges before shipping.

I was pleasantly surprised by the thinness. Here's mine compared to a natural canvas micarta #71 Bull Nose. Significantly thinner!

Same here.

I thought so, too (and I also wondered if Smith & Sons maybe sharpened them before shipping). I will say, though, that most of the new GECs I've gotten lately have been sharpened pretty well (for example, the #47 Vipers from the most recent run). I know this has been said by many people here recently, but I think GEC has certainly stepped up their game on sharpening.

While handling & admiring mine last night, I couldn't help but think GEC would have a serious home run if they'd make a 71 just like the Mudbug. Lock back, thin and all.

I received my Mudbug yesterday and I'm very pleased with it. Mine is in the OD linen micarta.

My case dark red mini trapper arrived today. I really like the size and w&t of this knife. It has the toughest backspring of the three case knives I have, which is a great plus (also the largest).

I'm not sure if I like the dye job on this knife. I bought it without seeing it and figgured I could always try to improve it by doing the tea and coffee trick shown on this forum by various members.

I might go that route, but haven't decided yet ... Somehow I don't like the undyed white bone and at the same time like how it shows that it's actual real bone underneath the red dye [emoji12]

Actually the red looks darker on the photo's than in reality:

Thanks again to Randy and Derrick for the more than generous giveaway, which I won. I used the credit at KSF plus a little of my own cash to grab this stunning rosewood burl Gunny EDC in Elmax. It's not as small as a true pocket fixed blade, but it is smaller than most of my hunters at 7.18", right at a quarter inch longer than an open GEC #73. I am super pleased with my selection. And as always, the Barkie came oh so shaving sharp.

Nice wood Jeff...ummmmm, I mean on the knife there bud! That rosewood has some great character. Congrats on picking a great prize!

So it appears I'm not the only one who got a "sturdy" mini-trapper. Mine (in yeller) has a nailbreaker of a master. I haven't taken the time to work it yet but out of the box it will push your keratin to its limit. :o

I think the red-over-natural thing is a hallmark of Case's best classic red bone, honestly. It was always my favorite thing about those knives.

Frankly, I don't much mind the "new" Case red bone either. Different, not necessarily better or worse. Just different.

Awesome choice, I'm extra envious right now because a Barkie is definitely going to be my next fixed blade. I may have chosen a City Knife for reasons you alluded to but I can find no fault at all in your selection, and those handles are incredible (especially for a sight-unseen knife)! KSF has definitely earned my business for my upcoming 77 (and, with any luck, 18) purchase.

Use that rosewood masterpiece well!

Got some of the new additions photographed while I had a few moments. These are the ones that might could be worth sharing. :D

Proof that Jack Black is always right about traditional knives. The 2-bladed rope knives always come with can openers.

My first sowbelly, in "traditional bone" (what's wrong with "wormgroove"?). This is a big hunk of steel. I now understand the love for this pattern. :o

F&F is only so-so, it's obviously of a newer vintage, and it's not pristine, yet I fell in love with it the second I had it in my hand. First daddy Barlow with a spear. Anyone know anything about this big fella?

As Connor so adroitly stated earlier today, I needed another stockman like I need a hole in the head. My latest "hole"... :p

Finally got my hands on a Boy Scout knife. Just not the usual kind... :o

Queen #55 in yeller, some sort of salesman's sample or display board knife. From the mailbox last night to the pocket this morning. :D

OK. Seriously. If I luck into a #18 this week it's the last knife I buy until the #77 details are announced and I've picked covers. This time, I mean it. :p

Thanks for the pics of your reds. Great looking knives!
This sheds another light on the matter, now I probably have to find another victim to subject to the tea and coffee experiment... Although it might look more like that nice barlows you show in your first picture after the treatment... [emoji5]

Well Won Jeff and well chosen too, that wood is beautiful. A tidy compact knife, just right!

Regards, Will

Thanks for the nice words, Jake, Tsar and Will. The rosewood burl handles jump off the screen, but I'm looking forward to trying out the Elmax steel as well.

Just picked up this Cattaraugus this morning. She's got some light marks on the bolsters and shield but otherwise seems mint. 3 1/2" equal-end jack.

After some sales last week, I had enough to pay a couple bills and to treat myself to this beautiful Hiroaki Ohta Gunstock. Absolutely one of my favorites. Great stag, great execution of the pattern. Very comfortable with a smooth and solid walk and talk. Been a tough week for me or I would have posted pics sooner. I need to get some with better lighting to really show the workmanship.
