Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

Bob Nice thick Ebony on that 15, vast improvement! The only complaint I have about the 15 in general is that they have very skimpy handle slabs. It's actually important that smaller patterns in particular should have quite thick scales for in hand comfort. Plus, it looks better.

I'm hoping the forthcoming 14 gets thicker slabs, but I'm not too sure.....

Thanks, Will

Thanks Ron.
Thanks Will. That was one of the reasons for me getting a re cover. I definitely wanted thicker covers. Especially as you mentioned on single blade patterns.

Thanks Paul!
Thanks James - I've been neglecting Schrade USA lately (in favor of Buck) - had to get back to the center - love 'em both!

Buck 303 in classic black. I think pics are not necessary.
►Came very sharp. I fussed with the edge as I always do with every new knife, but really did not need to do so.
►Springs are almost dead flat in open and closed position. Just a tad off. I slightly rounded the edges of one of the springs and now I can't really feel any uneveness between the springs unless I concentrate on it. (learned that trick looking at some of my Case knives.)
►Needed a bit of oil, but once oiled and worked a bit it developed a nice snap to the blades. Call it a 4 on spring strength, which IMO is about right for a small knife.

Aesthetically I think I prefer flat ground blades, but in use the current "edge 2000" concave grind actually works better. And the famous Buck/Paul Bos heat treat for 420HC can't be beat.

Good bang for less than 30 bucks shipped.

The 303 is every bit the classic as the Schrade 34OT or Case #18, IMO. Is yours a 2-spring or 3-spring? I'm starting to appreciate the extra width and control the newer 303s give with the 3-spring construction and the grind you mentioned has proven extremely useful on more than one occasion. Since I'm more than likely going to have a FFG knife alongside any concave or saber-ground knives, the extra utility of having a 303 around is always welcome.

I got smothered in Ebony with yesterday's mail call. The top two (#15 and #68) were recovers. The #15 had some tired thin bone and the Pony Jack had Nifebrite Acrylic (not a fan).
The bottom one is a new prized piece for my collection. A fine gift from a friend hat I've been searching for quite some time to add. #66 Teamsters Jack, a Charlie Campagna HJ6. Sweet!!!!!

Bob that 15 is gorgeous!!! excellent work!

3-spring. Buck has used 3-spring construction since the early 90's. But the knife is no wider than the 2-spring Camillus 303. I like the 3-spring construction because then the sheepsfoot comes straight out of the knife because it is not crinked.

This was waiting for me when I got home today.

Scoring this one definitely takes the remaining sting out of not getting a Snakewood Viper.
This one was already on its way to me when I got the announcement about the Jobillo wood offering...so, since I hadn't SEEN this one yet, I figured I'd play it safe and grab one of those as well.

Thanks to Mink, I just received this beautiful Robeson single blade, spear point Barlow wrapped in gorgeous red bone.

Chestnut CV medium stockman -very nice.
Also waiting for me in the box when we got home. We had taken a ute load of junk/valuable treasure to the Salvos store.
SWMBO decided that the garage sale /market stall wasnt going to happen and just wanted rid of the heap.
Of course yours truly has been thinking this for a few months now so double smugness.
Double smugness? Yes that's when you get rid of a whole pile of junk and whilst at the Salvos you find a huge pair of K55K Solingen Germany carbon steel dressmaker scissors for 15 AUD:D:thumbup:

Got the two bookends in the mail yesterday, No. 5 and No. 9. The No. 9 I like, not exactly pocket friendly, but a good size knife. Not sure about the No. 5. Without the lock ring, I wish there was a little more tension on the blade, especially when it's open.

Here are the results for those following my "help me pick a case knife" thread. I couldn't pick so I got the blue sway back jack for a great deal on special and I got the orange smooth persimmon mini copper lock because I really wanted it.

Both met my desire for something that pops. The blue was much brighter than the example I had seen online.
