Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

I'm quite excited about this one that I picked up to celebrate a birthday I had last month. An unsharpened Case 6383 from my birth year:

It has a couple minor spots of blade rub, but is otherwise in excellent condition. I certainly have far more visible signs hinting at our age. ;)

That's a beauty, Wilt. Good pickup on that one.

+1  I had one in spring green jig bone and sent her on her way. Loved the pattern just nver cared for the covers. That stag looks great.

Thanks Brett and Gev (in another thread) for the compliments and birthday wishes.

I'm really pleased with it. It was one of those happy times where the knife turned out to be even better than I was expecting from the seller's photos.

My Cody Scout #72 burnt Stag#14 came in today and I'm very happy with it . Wanted a natural Stag but the one left I just couldn't fall in love with so picked a nice burnt stag.
Walk and talk is outstanding on this one .
Super happy 👍

Hot diggity boys, those #72s are spectacular!
I got mine yesterday and it's been in the pocket ever since!

It's already got a pork patina! The walk and talk is great. Little play in all four directions which drives me a little crazy as blade play is my sticking point, but I dropped some oil into the action and it magically tightened up... I read on another thread that the oil could act as a lock similar to hydrolics, or something like that??? Anyhow, it worked and I've thrown my own edge on the blade and it's ready to roll!

Stag 72 ...
Harry

My burnt stag 72 showed up a couple days ago. Pictured with my trusty 77 for size reference. I had it in my mind that the 72 was going to be bigger than what I usually carry. As you can see from the images the 72 is similar in frame length to the 77.

Fabulous stag 72s, folks! Congrats to TheFactor, johnny twoshoes, Harry, and cbr1000!:thumbup: I hope they'll all show up again in the Stag Saturday thread! ;)

I sure do enjoy seeing all these stag #72s everyone is getting.

I wasn't too sure if I should get the Violet Pioneer Bone 72, but...

...I think I may have been given a sign from above. :D:eek:
Wow, that's eerie, kagato!! :eek::confused::eek:;)

Couple of nice users from my pal Randy came in today as well,

Those ARE some nice ones, Jack! Blessings to Randy for his generous spirit!

Congrats, Greg; that's an outstanding knife! Someday I should do some kind of birth year/anniversary/other meaningful date kind of knife thing.

I'm not sure I can convey how much I love the 57 Whittler pattern. Came in today off the exchange.

Congrats on a gorgeous knife, Kilt!!

I had a minor spending spree on Labor Day, so I'll be gradually posting some of those knives here as time allows. A little reluctant to post my low-budget stag here after seeing those stunning GEC stag 72s, but such is the path I've chosen for myself. :p Here are a couple of stag-handled Colt knives, a canoe (a "back-up" for a Colt stag canoe I bought quite a while ago) and a muskrat. Actually, I like the stag on the muskrat A LOT!!

Happy birthday Greg,
I think you'll gonna love the pattern for whittling, I've carried it for 3 years straight,
The only think that made me change it is the thickness of the main blade stock due to the split back construction.
But the small clip is a treat, tell us your impressions once you try it out

By the way my newest addition is because a post of yours about the carpenter whittler

Here you can see the spine of both main blades

These two are recent and prized.

Tidioute 92 Talon in Ebony and from Portugal an all stainless(blade&liners) knife in a kind of Laguiole style by Ciol in Blonde Horn. The Portuguese knife was inexpensive 32 Euro delivered in the EU and is a very pleasant Gent's type of knife. Generally very acceptable finish: blade centre, sharp on arrival, no play or gaps. Spring is sunk a bit on closed but flush on open. Nice rustic European with an Old School American.

Purdy knives you got there, 5K. I'll second your admiration for the stag on the muskrat.
Thanks, WK!

That's a notable pair, Will!:thumbup: The Portuguese blond horn knife is very distinguished.

GT Thanks indeed, they are! :D I'm really pleased with the Iberian. I asked in my order for light horn and they obliged, probably can get it in dark too but with horn, I go for the lighter shades or blonde. Wood I prefer dark.

Regards, Will

Thanks GT. Given your affinity for numbers, I'm surprised you haven't yet sought out a knife with either a model number or production year that has significance to you. Fortunately, the longer you wait, the more significant numbers you'll accumulate, making your task easier. ;)

I like both of your new acquisitions, but the canoe has me the most captivated. I've yet to handle an example of the pattern, but have been enjoying them vicariously through the frequent expansion of your fleet.

By the way, what is that style of bolster called? I've heard the term "pinched bolsters", before. Are those an example? The term would seem to fit...

Thanks Mateo. Your 6383 was a strong inspiration for me picking one up. I've had my eye on them since you recommended them to me and experiencing—and really liking—the small clip on the Camillus 72 convinced me to go ahead and track one down. I haven't had a chance to sharpen it yet, but hope to next weekend. I'll definitely let you know what I think.

And, that's a beautiful Schrade 863 you've got there. Congratulations! I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of it.

Greg just a BEAUTIFUL vintage Case Whittler. I'm a sucker for vintage redbone Case knives.

These two arrived within the last 10 days...Menefee Sailors knife with vintage Westinghouse Micarta and a Rendezvous all steel bare end Eureka in Maroon linen.

Happy belated birthday Greg!!!! That is a great looking Case and I really like the meaning behind finding a knife from your birth year. Hope you had a good one:thumbup:

So many amazing knives posted here recently that it would take me forever to recap what I like about each one. I have really enjoyed catching up  Please stop posting Stag 72's. My wallet can't take the abuse and with two unpaid knives on reserve I've used just about all the restraint I have after seeing so many fine examples!!!!!
