Have never posted this gift from one of my friends which I received about a month ago.
Some people call it a Melon Tester and some people call it a Sausage Knife.
Made by Colonial . Sorry about the reflections . Raining out today.

Very beautiful knife there Harry.

Very nice! After watching a video about how Buck knives are made, I may have to get one of those myself! You've got a solid knife there!
Nice Buck 5K
Now I know what to ask my wife for Christmas (she's very budget conscious)
Gary, I've thought about getting one of those. What do you think of it?
Thanks for the positive comments about my new Buck 371, John & Gafishing & Dean. :) Dean, I think quite highly of the knife so far (although I get the impression that I may be relatively easy to please ;)). The G-10 handles are very nubby and grippy, which I consider to be a plus; I also think the black with electric blue highlights looks good. My understanding is the blades are 420J2 stainless steel; I've heard that's not as good a steel as the 420HC that USA Buck 301 uses, but it seems sharp to me at the moment. The liners and the single bolster are also stainless steel, I think. I prefer steel liners to brass ones, so that's a plus. I don't have any experience with steel bolsters IIRC, but so far no complaints; I kind of like the barehead styling. As netguy1999 pointed out, it's a very solidly-constructed knife; no blade play and little,if any, blade rub. (It's a GREAT spinner, closed, on its back on the top of my desk! :D)

That's a nice melon tester, Harry!
I may order a new one from Rough Rider or Taylor-Schrade-Imperial in my next knife order (maybe this weekend).

When Clay (Emspop) saw a comment I made about his Case 6279 he did what us porch dwellers sometimes do and began searching for a 6279 that he could send me. It didn't take him long to find one and notify me that he was awaiting its arrival. Clay asked if I would want to clean it up and make it mine and of course, I thought the project sounded like fun so I anxiously accepted his offer. The gifted knife was in great working order but it was in need of a little TLC due to some corrosion build up it had acquired over the years. Clay sent me these next few pics and I'll use those as the "before" pics.

While not a major restoration, this was a welcomed reminder of what a little wad of 0000 steel wool and a jeweler's cloth can accomplish.

Thanks again, Clay. She turned out great!

This first pic is that bolster with the brass showing through from the third photo above.

That definitely earns a WOW!!

Thanks, Sonny! It has proven to be a great little companion. Wicked good snap on those blades!

This Ulster Boy Scout knife came in the mail today. A gift from my friend, Lance (The Fort). All this one needs is a touch up on the blade edge but I'll go ahead and flush and lube the joints too. Might even put a shallow edge on the punch for scraping. I'm going to remove the bail too (blasphemy, I know) to make it easier on the pocket.

Great knife with tons of life left in it.

There are few things handier than a good pen knife, one of my faves is an old New York Knife Co EEPK, (equal ended pen knife), that looks very much like your Case, fits perfectly in my watch pocket. I also prefer a camp knife without a bail. The bail gets in the way IMHO. I have an imported Colt camp knife that came without a bail, and like you say it makes it easier to carry in a pocket.
I also have an old Imperial Camp Knife that looks like a virtual clone of that nice old Ulster, a testament to the popularity of the frame.

I knew your forum name stood out to me for some reason. It was your photo of the Colt Camp knife that convinced me to get one. The blue jigged bone version with a Phillips screwdriver and no bail. I saw your photo and had one on order within 20 minutes if I remember correctly. Nice knife!

That's the one, nice to know someone noticed! A very good knife indeed, despite it's non-US origins, I carry mine several times a week. A good knife is a good knife, and a good knife for under $20 is just irresistible. I also compared the Colt with it's Rough Rider counterpart, and decided the Colt wins hands down, (I gave the RR to my no-account son in law). I've found the philips head very handy to have and of convenient size on several occasions, and after a few months of frequent use the knife is still tight & sharp. Can't wait for it to develop some genuine pocket wear.

Here is another old camp knife I forgot I had, the oldest one I have at least. I think I found this at the local swap, can't remember exactly.
Hammer brand, (IKC probably late 30's), well used but complete other than a bail. It's also looks to be missing a shield on the handle, (notice the little tabs). Smooth genuine pocket wear is evident, not a beauty but still usable. Who needs a pesky old bail anyway?

My first lambsfoot! Direct from Sheffield, England.

Thanks Will !!! It is rich looking stuff , my friend . I personally think that it is some of the best that Case has come up with in a while. Plus , I needed a sample of a Peanut and a Seahorse Whittler in the collection . Then the Rogers Walnuts are on my list for Christmas that I imagine some of my kids will add to for me. .
