Thanks, as to that honey hole, it will remain a secret for now, at least until I dredge up all I want from it. Believe it or not these were never sold by Buck themselves, (there were large & small versions in various handle materials), so they were Bucks in name only, they were a special order by SMKW, made by Camillus and sold only through the SMKW catalog in that single year, no surprise you haven't seen many, there just were not that many made. I think I posted photos of the black & yellow sawcut Delrin versions earlier in this thread.

Sonny14,

Good info. Is that one real bone or a synthetic made to look like bone?

Tidioute/GEC #14 boys knife, and 2 blade marked "the Heal U.S.A.". Does anyone have any information about "the Heal"? Thanks

Nice find! Looks like a 6263 Eisenhower with Delrin covers.

I've got a couple of 6279's which are very similar but a little different.

Snagged my first TC Barlow, (and 3rd GEC) a peach seed bone, from the exchange this week. I can't say how excited I am to have this. While I like to use my knives I may have to get a second one to take out and about since this one is just about perfect.

Very cool. As far as I know the Eisenhower was made in jigged bone and stag also. I've seen a couple mint, stag examples on the vast wasteland auction site sell for triple digits. Meaning over a hundred.

Got this Mountain Man in the mail a couple days ago. I used to have one and passed it along in a GA quite a while back. Been missing it since it carries well for the large size and figured I should pick another up before these slipjoint versions become too scarce. It has a few minor issues in the fit and finish department, but the walk and talk on this knife is hands down the best I've ever experienced on a slipjoint. It's so smooth it almost feels like a lockback! Maybe a 4 or 5 pull and a loud thwack when it snaps open.

I already took it to the belt sander to give it a satin finish and thin out the blade. I'm pretty sure this is the first knife that I've bought a second time. It's good to have one again.

these i've had shipped or bought in the last week.

Case Sod Buster Yellow CV
Imperial large Sod Buster
Buck 110
Opinel 8 carbon

The Case is the second one I had sent out as the first one had horrible fit and finish and I returned it. This second one has the blade rubbing on the left liner. Not sure if I will keep it. I love the sod buster pattern so I'm starting to grab a bunch of em, only had a sod JR black covers with SS blade and i'm finally getting around to buying others. The Imperial seems to have better F&F and it cost less than a third of the Case. The Buck I finally added just for nostalgia's sake, my father used to carry one. The Opinel I am very impressed with so far. I can't wait to use it, going to figure out how to seal the handle and do a vinegar patina on it. Good times. :D
