Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

I know what Old Engineer Old Engineer means about the Russells not being “real Russells”, but I got my grubby paws on them and I say they are real nice. The daddy is substantial ~ a bit thicker and heavier than either of my own daddy barlows.
I believed you at the time @Amir Fleschwund but I still had to check it out and the difference is more than I thought it would be : 1998 Russell Granddaddy vs Case Granddaddy

Russell on the top in this picture

Length is 5" on both // Thickness across covers Russell = .625 " and Case = .47 " // Blade Spline Thickness Russell = .14 " and Case = .115 " // Liners : Russell = .08 " Brass and Case = .05 " Steel
Russell is a 1998 that was probably made by Camillus
The Case is CASE XX

Nice catch Harry, but I personally prefer the Case. Love the depth in that bone:thumbsup:
I think I would prefer to carry the Case and it is Older and it has nicer bone and more mystic or whatever but if you are wanting to carry a big heavy Folder , then there is not much of a choice between these two . I have a Western that is larger & heavier yet if I want a big heavy folder and is is equally as well made as either of these too .
How did you make out Saturday at Janesville if I might ask ????

Harry

The friction folder on the left arrived last week. I liked it so much I ordered a couple more as gifts. They arrived today.

Is it traditional? No less so than a Lionsteel Barlow, I guess. D2 steel, supposedly, and sharp enough out of the box that I am not tempted to try to improve on it. It reminds me of the Michael Morris friction folders, but as far as I know, it is not a copy of anything.

Harry, I know what you mean about big folders. There's something very satisfying in hand, and I rarely notice their weight. (We'll, my Schrade LB7 is pushing it:D).

Thanks for asking about the weekend. I had a great time. Was hard to choose but I got 3. I'll be posting them soon.

I discovered that I haven't posted any new knives in this thread in more than 6 months!:thumbsdown:
I've certainly acquired new knives in that time, but for unknown reasons I haven't posted any of them here. That seems odd to me, because I usually think that I haven't REALLY received a new knife until it shows up here.

So I'll start gradually posting my backlog, starting with my most recent knife and working back toward mid-September.
Here's a Frank Buster Celebrated Cutlery Fight'n Rooster 4-blade canoe I picked up from the exchange (thanks, Jeff).
I enjoy the blade combination

Replying to my own post..lol. I still have not been able to find much on this knife here..but man is it awesome. Mostly what comes up on the web are adds from the copycat companies.....spyderco and crkt..I own one Spyderco and don't care for it and crkt produces nothing but junk.. Years ago I designed a few knife patterns and not having money for the right equipment started making them from hardwoods for practice. Bob Hergert liked what I was doing so I made a handfull with ivory components and joined him in eugene at the knife show. When we sold the knives he would contract to do scrimshaw on them. Long story short, I had a lot of folks checking my wooden knives out..a rep from CRKT and a design guru from spyderco spent quite awhile talking to me and check king out my work.. Not even a year later both companies were selling wooden knife kits marketed to kids..HaHa I knew I was on to something...wonder how much money those clunky wood kits have made over the years
