I should be getting this guy next week sometime. After bidding on several different knives and getting outbid at the very last second, (including a very mint case big jack that was MINT for a STEAL that I remained disappointed about a for a couple days) I scored what looks to be a very nice example of a camillus #18 jack for 15 bucks with shipping! Super excited to get it in and fondle over it. It only has derlin handles but I love the shield, swedge and long pull. I think it will be a classy little knife.

I consider myself lucky to be able to count many of the friendships I've made here on The Porch in years now, and one of the first pals I made here was Peregrin Peregrin I've always admired and respected Gary for the hard work he puts in here, and am proud to have him as a friend. I was thrilled to receive a package from him today containing a knife I have often admired here, a Case Swayback Jack in CV, as well as a button and a personalised key-ring :) Thanks a lot Gary, you're a kind soul :)

To thank Gary for his friendship, and for all his contributions here, I have successfully petitioned the Burghers of Sheffield to erect a statue in his honour. It now stands outside the railway station, close to the confluence of the Rivers Sheaf and Porter, whose water-power once drove dozens of cutlery wheels, and the Pond Tilt Forge, which was on this very spot ;)

I appreciate the kind words, my friend! A statue in my honor! Say it ain't so! :D;)

Thanks, since I still have Grandad's old one I've kinda grown to like them. I carry the user I bought quite frequently and figure the nicer ones are for looking at, maybe some light duty around the house.
