That Viper is a sweetheart but I am loving that Fight'n Rooster.
Very nice mail call.

It's been a GOOD week for knife acquisitions. This #15 Boy's Knife with ebony handles just arrived. I'd been looking for a two blade with spear/pen for a while. The wood is way more brown with black streaks, which I really like (it's different). Very excited for this one.

I wouldn’t necessarily call it a grail but I’ve wanted one of these since I first found out they existed. For those that don’t know, it was a special run made for SwissBianco. I have one of their Alox Lumberjacks but it almost feels a bit thin. The three layer Alox is about perfect.

I just got this Case Carhartt Mini Trapper. I know I give Case a hard time because some of my purchases have had horrible fit and finish. I've had to send several back for refunds or just threw them into my Jeep Club's raffle. But I've also said that when they do one right you have a really good knife. This is an example of the latter, a really good knife. I know, I know, it doesn't have fancy bone handles with lined and polished bolsters etc. Instead it has "imitation stag" Delrin handles that are kinda fugly. The bolsters, end caps, and blade have a very rough finish. I'm sure the shield is glued-in too. But that is exactly why I'm liking it so much. It reminds me of the knives I carried in my youth when I didn't have much money to spend on better knives. It's just a good "user" knife that you don't mind getting grimy or handing to a friend to use on some nasty job you're working on. They may have been cheap knives but they were well built and lasted. Best yet, this knife has no gaps, good transitions, centered blade, and a very nice pull and snap. It's just well put together. I can see this little knife getting lots and lots of pocket time.

Sorry to take up so much room reviewing such a cheap knife, I'm just surprised by how much I like it.

Just got this in tonight, a bit longish in the tooth, so not sure how long I'll hang onto her, but she is really sweet. I added a braided leather fob on there, the bead came with the knife but the thread of leather it was on was too slim to let stay.

That thing is stunning!!

Recently added these three to stables. It took a long time to pull the trigger on picking up a 66 Calf Roper. Now I wish I had picked a few of the other versions earlier. Its a fantastic little package! And of course the venerable 77 Barlow, everyone needs at least one.

They swapped the awl/punch for the pen blade? Different strokes I guess, but personally I'd consider that a downgrade. The awl/punch on the ALOX models is vastly superior to the one on the cellidor models, and one of the most useful tools I've ever had on a SAK. That's just this man's opinion. Regardless, congrats on the find.
