Ebony and Hemlock Green Calf Ropers..
Just started a new job.....so there.
Been eyeing the 66s for a long time.
I’ve had two GEC 66 Calf Ropers, Ebony and OD Micarta, but ended up selling both of them. However, that Hemlock Green one has me seriously considering another one. That jigging, and federal shield really are nice on that model. -Lance

This Queen # 51 Factory Sample Small Trapper with Rosewood covers and 1095 steel arrived from JohnDF JohnDF as the Grand Prize of his giveaway. The knife is very well put together with no apparent chips, cracks, gaps, drips, runs, or errors and was accompanied by a very nice Certificate of Authenticity.

John pulled what some would say was a cruel trick when he packaged the knife in the Priority Mail Box. He enclosed the knife and certificate in a green top Zip Lock Sandwich Bag and when I initially opened the box, I thought; "WOW!!! - a knife and a snack too" but I found only the knife. I looked and looked through all the wrapping and box again but no snack. Not even a cookie crumb for my dog.

The next time I'm in Alturas, I'm going to make it a point to bring you some of my Wife's homemade cookies!!! I'll even throw some crumbs in the bag so I can see that hunting dog in action :D

Don't come anytime soon. We've had snow up in the Warners up above Alturas for the last three nights and of course today is the opening day of the deer season. We've got hunter-campers that are snowed in up there and can't get out. They've hired one of the local snow plow guys to come and get them out. Many of the so-called tough, rough, and gruff hunters have already left town. Evidently the poor guys can't stand the weather and the cold. If you know anyone with a deer tag for X3, X3a, or X3b, tell them to stay home. Jess Valley too and the hills above Call Pines.

aah Grasshopper.
When the Leopard decides to pounce must he not first seriously consider?
Here's a better look at Hemlock Green...
It's pleasing to note that GEC does not discriminate against the colour blind.

You’re going to push me right over the edge!:rolleyes: Thanks for sharing another picture of that beauty. Paul Hilborn just posted his today too. Another “Enabler”!!!;) I realized that I actually had an Oily Creek Bone model pass through my hands also, but I’m pretty sure that the Hemlock Green is “The One”.:p -Lance

Superb knife, not destined to remain with me. I got it as a late birthday gift for my Dad. From a conversation we had a couple months back, I found he has a really high opinion of Schrade-Walden and Tree Brand Boker. When I told him I was collecting pocket knives he gave me this advice "If you find any Schrade-Walden's, hold on to them. I never wore one out, broke a couple, gave some away, but took care of they'll outlast you. Boker is a really good brand, the tree brand ones, got to say Soligen on them. They're great knives, about the best there are.I just can't find any around here anymore. I never liked case, to hard to sharpen" This from a man who's not a knife knut in the sense most of us are. So to me at least that gives his advice allot of weight. Because he's saying this based on years of use, sometimes hard use. My Dad don't do technology lol, it shocked me to learn he got a cell phone last year, and learned to text.lol So online shopping isn't something he does, so if nowhere around him sells Tree Brand, I figure he'd like one.

It's fun to visit a new hardware store that carries Case knives and see their display for the first time. It's even more fun to find a knife you like in a discontinued pattern, cover material, or color. I picked up this 2011 swayback gent in pocket worn old red bone on a trip across Indiana last week. I am really hooked on the SBG/SBJ patterns!
