To tell the truth I'm not positive r8shell. I have another stacked leather from John and it doesnt exhibit any problems. View attachment 1003032
Nice! I'd be interested in seeing how it ages, since leather handled fixed blades are so comfortable and seem to hold up to rough use.

I'm starting to get ideas for my next knife recovering project...:D

I know Drew dispatch184 dispatch184 has one that he uses and John has one that he's used for years. So, I don't know about stabilized but they do hold up to use.

Yeah my Lannys has held up well, my most used knife I would say. I put some leather conditioner on it every once in a while. Alan that sowbelly was meant for you, glad it’s home. Beautiful knife!

Er, how'd you open that Stag? Those joints may not be sunk but the nail nicks nearly are:eek: Outta sight :D

Dwight, I still think that's an amazingly gorgeous knife, but the threading on the bolsters seems to be positioned differently on the two sides. Is that what you're referring to?

Thank you Gary. I totally agree, but tell me, do you see what my statement is referring to?
Hard for me to tell from the image, Dwight. It appears the top image might not be taken straight on? Are the nicks not accessible? That would be a bummer.
If those were the sellers images, and that's true, I might have been dazzled by that stag myself.

I didn't notice that until you mentioned it, Gary. That's a pretty glaring difference.

I've been wondering about that myself. Did Will get it right?

Thanks guys! No the nail nicks are just fine. GT spotted what I was referencing. And as Gary (Peregrin) said, the difference is GLARING. I'm perfectly okay with it. It is one of the most beautiful 25 barlows I've ever laid eyes on. But I am amazed that it escaped me for days even after handling it, photographing it, cleaning, oiling, admiring. I bought it off of the "big site" and paid dearly for it. Both sides of the knife were well shown and I will give the seller the benefit of the doubt. No complaints. The knife is pretty much handmade by imperfect humans and it now belongs to the wife of a very imperfect human. She's not the least put off by it either. (the knife that is) :D:D:D

Out of the spear run I only got a 2 bladed one so the single blade has been a pleasant surprise.

It fits perfectly in the watch pocket and I got rid of the thick factory angle and now it is quite the little razor.
