That's a beauty Lance. Man I love BB Winchesters! And I'm especially happy that only a few of us feel that way!I just picked this up on the exchange, earlier this week. ‘87 Winchester Stockman.
You know what pattern I like almost as much as canoes? Sowbelly stock knives!
I believe we do have the same taste in knives. Thank you my friend for your kind words. Sows and Canoes! What more do we need? ... maybe some scouts... and lamb foots... barlows, trappers, swaybacks, backpockets, whittlers, coffins... and then there's lockbacks and... oh well... never mind...You know what pattern I like almost as much as canoes? Dwight, those are a couple of home runs you picked up!!

Picked up this carbon steel Schrade USA sharpfinger in a pawn shop, for less than what a new Chinese one goes for. Even though it looks to been carried and used it still had the factory grind one the edge. Was a bit dull though, 5 passes per side on a ultra fine diamond stone got it to shaving sharp.

Thanks Rick. Sounds like it is as high quality as it looks. AND comes complete with a TUNING FORK!Thanks for asking, Dwight. It's pretty awesome. The two halves fit together perfectly with no movement unless intentional. The curl on the cap lifter prevents the halves from moving as long as the fork is closed so that you can use the blade without fear of the halves moving or separating. You have to open the fork to separate the halves. It's my first "Hobo" style knife but I believe others are made that way too.
The blade is plenty sharp enough to use out of the box. No play on the fork or the blade. Good snap on both and excellent tolerances all around. The blade can be pinched open even with the fork closed. No rubbing on the liners. Everything fits together nice and tight.
It's dang near perfect except for one minor thing which is new to me. The sound that the fork makes when it snaps closed is like the ringing of a bell. Hard to describe but the ringing sound lingers for a second or two like a bell does when it chimes. My wife even made a comment about it when she heard it the first time. I've never owned a knife that did that and I've yet to determine what causes it.
Overall I'm very satisfied. It's extremely well made in my opinion.
Thanks Rick. Sounds like it is as high quality as it looks. AND comes complete with a TUNING FORK!You are really laying some fine ones out here lately with this and the Bokers...
