So I bought this on the Exchange on a bit of whim because I have handled two Fayette Jacks and gotten rid of them, mainly because of the length and shape of the blade. However, I really liked the 56 pattern, but wasn't interested in the spear point on the recent run. Then this clip point showed up and I thought I should refrain because I had a #14 on the way and a couple on stand by or reserve. I made an offer and got a good deal, and now that it has arrived I'm really glad I bought this knife. It is a great size and I love the way the dogleg feels in hand. The aesthetics of this knife are odd due to the dogleg and clip point, but the aggressive angle of the clip point make for an excellent using knife--it feels a lot like the lambsfoot knives I have, but with a clip point! I'm not usually a two-blade guy, because I don't like the tang on my finger, but both of these blades sit almost entirely recessed, plus the extra length of the bolster makes for a little "choil" space. As if that weren't enough, this is 1 of 25 made in ebony (this one is #11). I've never had a limited run GEC in that few a number made.

A couple of weeks ago I was pleased to find this #43 Oregon Trapper in Orange Camel Bone on a dealer’s web site. It’s a “S” or store model, but I cannot honestly figure what the defect is. I think it’s a beautiful knife and one I have wished several times that I had picked up when they were available.

Maybe not that special, but to me it is. This arrived yesterday from the Exchange, a 15 Spear which is my preference over Clip. Nice that Forum members don't always implode when overseas shipping is mentioned ;) Otherwise I'd be cut off ....

Shown here with the 14 which despite superficials really is a considerably smaller knife.

As I've been sayin' - very very nice!

Thanks Ray. With that sense of humor I'd be glad to add you to my growing family as long as you sleep through the night.
