Went back to the pawn shop. Had to. It was eating at me. Five blades.....FIVE:eek:
The Case Tested era, got blinded by the old tang stamp, main blade is reprofiled, only noticed while looking at others on eBay. Plus other clues I posted in the Case thread:rolleyes: but I still got it for a song, think I told be a user. What y'all think?:)
Boy David, ya done GOOD!! I have never seen the five blade in the 92 frame before:eek::thumbsup: Now that Case tested:eek::eek::eek: That my friend is a SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE;) if that main is reprofiled it ain't by much:thumbsup: Hard to tell unless it is quite short in the well, but shape looks right to me? Looks to have been cleaned but nicely done:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: uh, buddy, how bout an address for this pawn shop;):)

Thanks I've found a couple of the 5 blades online, apparently only 1000 was made in 1985. And 3 examples I seen for sale was asking a pretty penny. So it my be my first non-user. Or at very least just carry to show off the novelty of it lol. The Case tested its so well done I never noticed until looking on eBay and such trying to figure the model. The ones I seen definitely was a bit longer and yeah I see it in the well now that I know to look. The others had a swedge all the way to the tip. Plus the ground kick and blade striking the backspring because they lowered it to much to get the tip into the frame again. I should have seen those things but got stars in my eyes, the next oldest Case I have before I got this one is I think a '74. Think I'm going to use it, but not as heavy as say my RR or Taylor Schrade. That's what they're for anyways. Over all I'm quite happy with this haul, even if I add in the Henckels I got Saturday I'm still well under the asking price I seen on the other 5 blade 5592's I seen online.

Got this Lloyd, my first custom from @Leslie Tomville
I watched Leslie's sales post for days. I have its first cousin and you grabbed a great one. John Lloyd's sowbelly has become my go to pattern and the micarta will out last us all. Enjoy it.

My newest is this John Lloyd backpocket in this magnificent slab of stag. It's much larger than I normally carry but I couldn't resist the stag. It's as good as they come. It snaps like a Florida gator which I did once. It's not how I close my knives but I wanted to test it. This one has the look of an heirloom.20190108_082216-1024x1097.jpg

The tested has definitely been used and cleaned but if the price was good you did well. An old knife that has been cleaned don't look right so you'd be doing it a service putting it to use and knocking that shine off.

That's my thinking as well, enjoy it and use it. And I think I did very well on the price only 34 dollars, that's less than a new one. And a new one don't have those cool old green bone covers;)

Buck 303 recoeved today, here with the Gunstock Jack:

Used the Jack for cutting up som grapes, patinaed away.

The 303 was a bit gritty, but I think that will work itself out with some wd40 and use. It had stronger springs and more snap than the 301 I used to own before I gave it to my brother. The only dislike I have is that the edge bevels are very uneven, both from side to side, and certain spots along the edge have a lot higher angle than the rest of the edge. I think I’ll have to use the xxc dmt to grind out a large back bevel om both sides, like 10 degrees to make it even, and then put on a 15/15 deg bevel again.

Looking forward to getting it right and putting it to use, after the winter came my frozen hands have missed the weaker springs..
