Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

I needed something cheap, locking, stainless, and reliable, for my Jeep bag. This bag rides in my Jeep for wheeling and fishing trips. It has a bunch of little items I might need if I get stranded. Things like a first aid kit, fire starter kit, knives, and water bottles. The MAM seemed perfect for the job...

I've had that one in my pack for years. FBC flatblackcapo flatblackcapo is the one who turned me on to them.

I'm glad. It seems like I made a good choice then.
And it was FBC's posts that peeked my interest in them

Oooh, I see how it is, you guys are gonna blame this alllll on me. ;):D

They are great little knives and they punch way above their price point.

I was curious about Hiroaki Ohta's friction folders and ordered one from one of our contributing dealers. I'm a big fan of Mr. Ohta's work and have 4 of his custom slip joints with stag covers.
This is my first friction folder. This one is an FK5, the top one in the image from Hiroaki' s catalog.

A little knife that couldn't be more minimalistic if it tried. The one piece handle is some really nicely finished ironwood. The D2 blade came razor sharp. The maker's name is in small script on a corner of the handle. The knife has a smooth stiff action and came with a nice leather slip.
At the price of about half a Franklin it was worth it to me.
I'll find a pocket for this one and see if it grows on me.
Here's a few pics of mine.

Thanks for posting this. I've been interested in them as well, just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

We have a young man that delivers for us and needs a knife throughout the day but doesn't have one. He saw my GEC Cotton Sampler and commented how he liked it. I stumbled across this small version (3" long) with bonestag covers.

I put a leather fob on it and will give it to him next week. I have to say, what a nice little knife:thumbsup: beautiful covers, solid, centered blade that it lethal sharp with ZERO PLAY. I went this route because I'm not sure if he'll appreciate a more expensive knife. If he does he can graduate up if he wants:)

Typically thoughtful gesture Paul :) That young man is going to be thrilled
