  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

Yes Joshua, I wished they would but my last phone call to Bill Howard doesn't make me feel optimistic.

Bummer. I wonder why?

My take is that it was a move to cut costs but I have heard from others that it's mainly because of the difficulty in insetting the shield into stag. I suspect both reasons add up to the same. I too wished that they continued to put shield on stag covers and who knows, maybe they will again sometime in the distant future but for now it's a "no go".

I've been looking at LF&C's lately and that's a realy nice example

I'm hoping to track down a 3" bearhead Jack/boys knife
Thank you for the kind words my friend and I wish you Luck in your hunt for one that you like .

mbkr mbkr Fine array of 302 knives you show there, it's a decent pattern and pity so scarce. Have the wood one and HAD a Yellow one but gave it away & frankly regret that as the recipient was pretty bored about getting it-which I found offensive:mad: Drag all that hoo har over the Remington, why can't people do as they say?

Everything worked out in the end, so its all good. It started with a an honest mistake, then got compounded until all one could do was laugh. When I shipped the first knife to the third party, I did wondered if I'd ever get my money back. Figured I could use some good karma in any event :p The seller was very apologetic. I'd probably do business with him again if he ever has anything I want. Maybe ;)

I don't have a clue about production numbers, but the yellow 302's seem to be the hardest to find. None of these are pristine, but they're all in very good to excellent shape. One thing about the 302 pattern: out of the seven I now have, there isn't a hint of play in any of them.

This has been a good week knife wise. I had purchased a collection of 5 Buck 302's (which I posted in the dedicated Buck forum) and they showed up yesterday :)

I was the other bidder on those, I'm glad someone from the forum got them. I was only interested in two of the five so dropped out at the end. They look great - it was hard to tell from the photos how much use they had seen. The black valox one that I have is one of my staple carries.:cool:

None of them look like they've ever cut anything. The yellow and the valox have some carry/handling marks. The original valox I have is a regular carry too.

My GEC 54 "whittler" arrived today. Made in 2008, in red acrylic.
This is a big knife. It has a spring for each blade, and the main is a clip, the secondaries are a long pen and a spey. You see why I put "whittler" in quotes... heck, the knife is bigger than most things I whittle...
It is nicely made, but I notice the acrylic scales are pulling away from the bolsters just a smidge. I don't know if that is expected, or common in a 12 year old acrylic scale, but, there it is. It's a nicely made knife, from early in GEC's history.

I normally don’t like acrylics but that one is really nice. Wow

These two are my most recent arrivals.

I snagged this Buck 302 on the exchange! :)

I won this one up on the big auction site. It's a Southern & Richardson, "Nest Knife", small pruner. :)

My newest addition is this 3.25" Queen found at an antique mall I visited yesterday. At least 62 years old with great action and plenty of life left in it. Stainless steel blades with the main having been grinder abused but still serviceable and the secondary in good condition. Jigged bone with no chips or cracks. For only $6 I couldn't leave it behind.

I saw a few knives that I liked but a glass display case was the only other item I brought home. I'll have to get some pics and show it here sometime soon.
