Just pulled this from the mailbox. I have had several of these and for what ever the reason I left them go. One was because of a pin crack in the scales (which GEC took back and sent me a new one;)), the others were for various reasons (I don't recall:confused:). This one has so much character that it has to be a keeper. Thanks to @MCar and the Exchange for this nice score.:D

Some knives are bigger than others, like this Terävä Skrama 200 from Varusteleka. I also bought their Jääkäri 85. Both have great ergos and feel like no nonsense working knives.

I can't say that this is a new one, since I have had the parts for a long time. It used to be a Hanwei Tinker longsword that I thought I could make into a long one hander, which was not a great idea and failed miserably. I found the time and energy to put it together again. It is now a 15th century bastard (hand and half) sword. I filed and fitted the cross guard (made it so tight that I had to hammer it in place) and peened the tang to the pommel, so everything is solid. Then proceeded to make the handle and modify the scabbard. I think I will make a collar decorated with piercings from the same leather as the handle to the scabbard. The blade and hilt parts need cleaning and polishing.

The local knife shop is open again so I stopped by to say "Hello" and came away with this 2016 Case yellow trapper in CV. I may be in the process of going from "I don't like trappers" to "Hey, this is pretty nice." I've always thought the long spey blade was weird and useless, but I'm starting to think of it as Wharncliffe-adjacent since it has a long, straight edge. :D

This is my new Case barlow, from Andrew's "going to the dogs" sale here on the exchange.... this is a great example of Case at their best, or at least very close to their best, on mass production knives. Blades are perfectly centered, no gaps in the back springs, smooth opening/closing, and a thin, slicey clip blade. Oh... and carbon steel. Delrin for scales is not a deal-breaker for me.. they seem to be almost indestructibly bland, but difficult to beat for a "working knife". I predict this one will find its way to my pocket on a fairly regular basis.

The LL is definitely a dangerous bear trap so I won’t be carrying it until I’ve had a chance to flush it out. It’s about a 12 on pull, and with that liner lock, it’s definitely not confidence inspiring. The #29 is very light but quite snappy on all three blades. Beautiful knives.

Those 23s are one massive......great Beaver shield too.:cool: Don't understand your scepticism about the liner-lock though?? After all, it's in addition to the conventional backspring it's not like some Moderns that rely only on the liner-lock (to slide open :eek:)
