Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

I now have my green bone Gator #88, thanks to ED for a great trade. I have waited 15 years for GEC to bring out a sowbelly pattern, and this green bone clip/lambsfoot is even more than I could have hoped for. Perfect size, terrific ergonomics, great blade combo, nice firm 6 pulls with excellent snap, and even in green bone! 😍

I got my first Rough Ryder today. I saw it in an email and liked the looks of it. It didn’t have any of the quirky Rough Ryder things (except maybe the nail nick) so I got sucked into the free shipping promotion and ordered it.

I guess it’s about what I expected. It’s not terrible and it’s not excellent. Aesthetically I really like it. The bone stag looks great and I think the black liner material looks good too. The walk and talk is okay; I imagine it will get better as I flush it more and use it. From open to halfstop is more stumble and mumble than walk and talk. The liners are pretty tight to the backspring without much gap. The backspring had a weird rough, unpolished area area, so I sanded the backspring and gave it a brushed treatment. The pivot pin was visible, so I ended up giving the bolsters the same treatment. The blade is off center (which doesn’t bother me) and might have a slight curve to it toward the end; but I guess if I can’t tell for sure, it doesn’t matter.

Wow, that was a long-winded way of saying that for as cheap as it was, I’m happy with it overall and I can see myself carrying and using it. It will be a good weekend knife.

What a great way to describe it Bart.
I think I described mine a “half pause.” 😄

The first one I got curved so much it nearly touched the liner. I called them and they sent me another one. The second one sounds like yours, I think it still curves, but I guess they offset it enough to keep it off the liner. 🤣
It won’t win any awards but it’s not the worst by a long shot.

That’s really nice, John. I didn’t know Case had a red micarta line.
Thank you. :)
I don't see Red Micarta Case knives pop up very often on the Bay.
I was lucky and caught everybody else sleeping on this one... got it for a song.
That's nice!
Thank you very much. :)
Nice addition John
Thank you, Todd. :)
are you going to get it fitted with a hotdog shield on the pile side?
If modders didn't charge so darned much I might think about it. 😁

Hahaha... That's perfect. 🤣

This is my stag 74 that joeradza joeradza sold me... not happily, sorry to say, but I'm glad it could find a home with me. I plan to use the heck out of it. The 74 is just a wonderful size for a single blade knife. In face, I'm going to have to move along my 74 safe queen to help offset this one that will be a user... :( life goes on....
that haze on the blade is a film of oil... just got through flushing and touching up the edge. It's sweeeet....
