Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

DocJekl DocJekl I can recommend a Moki Blakiston's Fish Owl lockback, the smaller 3 3/8" version. It's black Micarta, Shadow and linerless so it's light but strong & durable. The action is superb, very few better made lockbacks, no play, you can hardly see the line between tang & spring once it's locked and the lock is sssmooth to use.

Thanks, Will

Got my wife a small knife for her purse, a Boker Magnum Jewel lockback with about a 2.15" blade and rosewood handles, but it's too difficult for her to depress the lock and release the blade to close. I also find it difficult, as you really have to get the lock bar pushed all the way down to the covers.

I didn't want to give a SAK because I want her to have a locking blade that wont close on her fingers. So, I have another one in mind for her and this one will be one of my glovebox knives.

I have a couple of smallish lockbacks that would make King Kong grunt to release the lock. I can sympathize.

Got this Gerber Strongarm from my brother for Christmas. I figure I can beat on this one and save my Swamprat Ratmandu, Morakniv Garberg, and Bradford Guardian 3 for more delicate jobs to keep them pretty 😂

I have one and can attest that you can beat the living daylights outta it and it won't care. Insanely tough knife that I 100% trust not to fail.

Interesting, the Boker lockback you gifted to me Joyana ended up claiming it instead of the stockman. With her GBS her dexterity is a bit affected and she finds it easier to open and close. She uses it every day to open mail and packaging, trimming coupons is easier than scissors. I've tried multiple knives and patterns with her and thats the one that works! Even my softest opening slipjoint she struggles with. We're very grateful!

That's great! The Boker I gave you is a much nicer knife and easier to operate than this Boker Magnum Jewell. I have one for myself and love it, so I went out and bought a new one for you. Therefore, I am also going to get another one for my wife (or a ladybug). This Magnum Jewel I just gave away today is basically a junk version, and about one third or half the size - it's a toy basically.

I'm so glad she can use it, and I also own the same Boker stockman that I sent you and really like it a lot, so I bought a new one for you guys because I wanted to keep mine 🤣

EDIT - Pics of the two GOOD knives we are talking about - from blade hq

Thought I’d share a knife I just got in just in time for Christmas. This is a project I was able to do for my Father in Law. He’s had a good bit of medical issues this year and had a really rough go of it. He asked if I could find him a knife that could help remind him to keep his spirits high in the low spots. I snagged this 33 off the Exchange because he is a fan of small pen knives. I found a new friend who did a wonderful job on the Scrimshaw. I asked him to keep the script old looking - like the “Office Knife” kind of look. I really feel like he will love it.

Good son in law

Happy New Year Everyone. The knife on the right was my Christmas present to myself. It’s been on my mind to look for a clean version of my Grandfather’s well-used Schrade jacks. I saw this one when picking up my bunny knife. It’s stunning. I don’t expect I’ll ever see another like it. Thanks waynorth waynorth !!

Happy New Year Everyone! :)
I believe this is my first entry into the tradititonals forum since I joined.

Today, as the first knife this year, I received a Fox Nauta:

Nauta.jpg

A beautiful micarta handled traditional slipjoint with a 8,5cm (3.34') and a whooping 4mm (1/8) thick blade.

The Nauta is made by Fox in Italy and I have read that the blades used on these knives are "leftovers" from the German Navy Knife they produce as OEM manufacturer.

So far I really like the knife and look forward toward what this "wedge" can do and what it can't do...
