I suppose this shield is shaped like something. The floor plan of Liberty Island maybe?

1774 is the model number and 04187 is the serial number. From a series or set of "Great American Story" knives. From around the time of the bicentennial, I would guess.

I know this isn't a real knife, but my grandmother has been promising this little guy to me since I was a kid and she finally gave it to me.

This was a prize she got in a cracker jacks box when she was a kid.

And 4th graders these days who take one to school will be expelled for breaking the zero tolerance policy against weapons and knives...

I was suspended in the 1st grade for a Lego starwars minifigure blaster because " somebody could think it's real ", even though you couldn't even see it from more than 12 inches away.

That's one shield I hadn't run across before. I really like that series of knives, and that's a quite handsome one.

That looks a lot like the one I got from my grandmother. Mine is made of "High Grade Zinc", or so the paperwork that came with it says.

My copper culpepper arrived today, used my modded original culpepper to open the package. This knife has a great edge, well centered, no gaps. Pull is nice and smooth,no half stop, about a 5 or 6. The "jigging" is kind of a inverted checkering, very positive grip with no sharp edges. Blade is mirror polished D2, overall really nice imho. Obviously it's not a lightweight, but neither is it overly heavy. View attachment 2037430View attachment 2037435View attachment 2037444View attachment 2037445
After I ordered this one I seen that they also have a USA made version. It uses a torx screw system for the pivot, and it's also about 30 bucks more expensive.

interesting, that blade shape reminds me of the alpha beast balisong blade!

That was released in mid February, 1975. Nice
