As promised a week or so back, here's an updated photo of the old Camillus 51 Barlow.

I got it cleaned up about as much as I'm going to. I believe I'll leave that darkened patina on the blades. This knife is now ready to visit the Sharpmaker - maybe tomorrow.
This is a solid knife that is quite serious about opening, closing, and settling in at half-stop. In my opinion, it is also quite handsome in it's own homely way. NFSOT

That's looking really good IMHO. 👍

Amazing how holiday activities can gum up the brain sometimes. Ordered this last month, forgot about it, arrived today - last knife of 2022, or first knife of 2023? After handling and using the SFO Boker Copper Barlow, I decided it needed a matching partner.

Dang near perfect centering, excellent F&F other than one tiny spot of barely noticeable gap, snap is great for me, walk is mostly smooth right out of the box.

The copper is slightly more polished on my Barlow than the Stockman. Patina will handle that over time.

Super knife and looks quality, once you get the blade patinated the contrast with the scales will be imposing

Does he have a list?
Thank you! Yes he has a list. I was told by another member that he can be contacted on FB. I don’t do social media so I went through the dealer and they made the arrangements for me. PM me if you want the dealers website address.

Solingen, Kissing Cranes (Klaas?), three-blade whittler.

Sub-$20. I like the colour, the brass liners, bolsters and shield. It's well put together, the blades are nicely aligned, good snaps. HOWEVER the scales are Celluloid. There's some blade pitting, not too bad, I guess the blades are stainless steel. There's some minor lifting and discolouration where the scales meet the bolsters. I managed to run some white copy paper between the gaps, not too bad and difficult to tell whether the little residue was celluloid breakdown or accumulated dirt.

I like the look of it, will keep it unboxed and away from other items and not buy another. I've no idea of its age, maybe just before the turn of this century? It will be interesting to see if and how long it lasts.

30 December I broke my year long knife buying moratorium. Found in the knife case at the local gun store. Tag identified this Tapio Wirkkala puukko as "Vintage Knife". $25. I will cross post with my comments in the puukko thread.

You got an enviable bargain there! wish I could get one (in the country of their origin...) for 23.75€ o_O

My copper culpepper arrived today, used my modded original culpepper to open the package. This knife has a great edge, well centered, no gaps. Pull is nice and smooth,no half stop, about a 5 or 6. The "jigging" is kind of a inverted checkering, very positive grip with no sharp edges. Blade is mirror polished D2, overall really nice imho. Obviously it's not a lightweight, but neither is it overly heavy. 20230106_123735.jpg20230106_123757.jpg20230106_123620.jpg20230106_123713.jpg
After I ordered this one I seen that they also have a USA made version. It uses a torx screw system for the pivot, and it's also about 30 bucks more expensive.

Wow. Jealous. I used to drool over those in the Brookstone catalogue.
