your purchase list so far 2018

I'll play.

Purchased:
MCK Halo IV
MCK Halo V
Spyderco Khalsa

Already partially paid for:
MCK MSG III Nichols Damascus
MCK Combat Troodon Hattori Damascus
PDW Frogskin Strider SMF

Otherwise, no real plans.

Wow, two perplexing things. First is the Spiderco folder that I would actually touch with a 10' pole. Normally Spidie folders have less than zero attraction for me but I like that one.
The other thing that has me puzzled is one of the 3 cartridges that you used for the backdrop.
The shortest is almost certainly the .45 ACP, the long rifle cartridge is probably a 30-06.
What the hell is the middle one with the hollow points? Looks like a shrunken 30-30 with that soft shoulder, but it's too short. Too big to be .22 hornet. Any chance it is a 7.62 x 39? If not, what the hell is it??? This is the type of crap that keeps me up nights.

That's essentially just a Rassenti custom that happened to be made by Spyderco. Almost 100% true to the original design. Little wonder it's more attractive than their usual offerings.

7.62x39 would be my guess as well for the midsize rifle round. 300 blackout maybe?

I've had my eye on the (recently discontinued) Spyderco Nirvana for a while now and it certainly is a very attractive design (at least to me) that gets bonus points for being an integral, however, if it's "essentially just a Rassenti custom that happened to be made by Spyderco", they're certainly charging "custom" money for it! Cheapest I can find it up here in Canada is for $569.00CAD, and that's before tax and/or shipping! While I'm sure it's extremely well made, that's Sebenza money...

In the last couple days I made my first 2018 purchases. A BM 556BKOD and a Spyderco M4 Military.

Even worse than the price, from what I hear, your border patrol folks might not let it into the country anymore, depending on the opening capabilities of it. Not sure it is assisted or flip opening. If it is, your border patrol will stop it from entering.

waiting in the mail for a wind river wild custom phantom xl i recently purchased. will get another one on regular size.

.45ACP, 300BO, .30-06

I'm definitely a Spyderco fan and this Nirvana check so many boxes for me. The one piece frame blows me away every time I pick it up .The new Spyderco/Rassenti that is in the works, Pasyan, is a little more subtle but equally attractive.

You do know what actual Rassenti customs go for, yes? I agree that the outside US prices are pretty damn horrid but US prices are fair for the Nirvana imho.

I have a general idea; it was a more of a tongue-in-cheek way for me to say it's a bloody expensive knife as far as production Spydercos go!

Edit: at least up here anyway.

Oh for sure. I wouldn't have a problem buying a 430$ Nirvana, but a 560 Euro (685 $) Nirvana not so much. I doubt the Paysan is going to be cheaper, so I'll have to think long and hard (

) about getting one or not. I'd be fine with ~550$ or thereabout, but above that, I don't think I'll pull the trigger, I can get two really well made production knives for the money. Although I might end up regretting it later like I did with the Reate Future.:confused:

Have added two more Emersons to my list so far: a Tanto (the actual long-discontinued model, not just the blade shape) and a new Super CQC-7. It's a good year so far.

So far I got:

Spyderco Schemmp Bowie
Medford On Belay like new (for less than half of its new price, thanks eBay)

With both I am very pleased so far. The MKT has one major flaw but all in all its a very nice knife.

This year I am probably gonna get another Medford, maybe a 187 for "lightweight" carry. I got the Emerson Seax on the radar as well. We`ll see.

Not a knife per se but got as Leatherman Rebar the other day. Love it, amazing EDC multitool.

I have my third Queen #06L of the year on the way, this time with walnut covers. I prematurely sold the first because of a design compromise that I'm now OK with, the second one has some F&F issues, so hopefully third time's the charm. So far both examples have had excellent walk and talk and A+ snap, better than anything I've handled in years (I wish GEC would go back to harder pulls like they used to be known for). I became a big fan as soon as I first held this pattern and I'm probably going to buy another in the amber bone stag as soon as possible; an example with the ACBS covers and solid F&F would be extremely hard to beat for me (tied with the Case Peanut).

Buck Deuce
Spyderco UKPK
Queen #06L x3
Schatt & Morgan #56
GEC #56

so.... lots of catalogs have been or are going to be released. What is on your purchase list? I'm interested to see what everyone is looking at getting.

for me it is.....

1. Microtech Socom Elite(new re-release)
2. ZT new model(only one of the upcoming)
3. Benchmade mini Crooked River(hoping for custom shop variant)

I've thought long and hard about this list. I wanted to be honest. Maybe I was just fooling my self when your thread first came out.
But no the list remains unchanged here it is :

I must admit to buying two knives this year.
They are :
  • Case Teardrop in natural bone
  • Boker Large Stockman only because I had a chance to get one in smooth dark red bone.
So you see I have this knife addiction under control. No . . . control suggests there is something to control.
I shall now show you what you are missing out on

So far I have only bought a couple vintage knives.
A hawkbill electricians knife which manufactures name escapes me right now, but appears to have bone handles
A camilus tl -29 in great working condition
An old gerber usa lockback I bought for my dad
Trying to keep it cheep since I got over $500 zt knives in December... (thankfully got a great deal at a local store and paid half that for both of them) so I spent $15 on all 3 of these guys, two of which will look great in my display case!
PS might be pre ordering a kershaw 7777... but havent decided so lets not count it yet ;)

I’m crazy into Fiddleback Forge. Just picked up a Monarch. It’s an awesome knife.

At this point my wishlist is down to FF Runts (variety of wood types) and a Navy FF Bush Hermit. I’m not sure I’ll have a lot of cash this year or if any if the ines I want get made. I guess we’ll see.
