ZT 0200 Three Knife Givaways!

.....BTW,....the initial post on "your" forum seemed an incitation to a gang rape of the voters on this forum, which is where the problem started.

Your guys all seem to miss the "spirit" of this,....and seem pretty proud to be doing what you're doing so i won't sound surprised you don't see that way.

That's the sad part of it.................

Please take another look at what was posted on the Spyderco forum. Does the thread sound mean-spirited or angry? "Gang Rape?" Hardly. It's not as though someone said, "Hey, let's screw over the guys on the Kershaw sub-forum just for the Hell of it!"

The thread is light-hearted and the truth is, well; I can't speak for everyone who voted for Chad. But I voted for him because I thought this wasn't just for Kershaw Regulars. And because I honestly feel he's most deserving.... as a member of the BF community in a general sense. I think you'll find that's why a lot of folks voted for him. It wasn't a case of "Yeah, let's help Chad win just to prove we can!" Not the case at all.

No one said hire a lawyer to cover all your bases. You did a good job with the rules of the voting. But if you only want members of the Kershaw sub-forum to vote; that's just one extra rule that could have easily been mentioned.

Despite if Daywalker is such a great guy or not, I still don't think it's right that Dialex made a thread on the spyderco forum for members to vote for Daywalker. I agree that if spyderco forum members ALL wanted to get Daywalker a knife, then they should all collect money to get him a knife. I think ALL of the votes for DayWalker should be disregarded and the knife given to someone who really deserves it for what he/she contributes to the kershaw forum or bladesforums.com in general.
That's just me though...
No, it's not just you...It's me, too.:grumpy:.

Allright,....i'll give you that,.....maybe "gang rape" was a little too strong to use,...... as i did go back and re-read the posts there and i will admit i may have,.....allright,....DID...... exagerate a bit with it's intent.

You have my sincerest apologies for that,......to all on the spyderco forum as well. :o

........maybe it was just me who FELT a bit gang raped! :D

ok guys look. lets not go into how it should all have been done and all of that stuff. we dont need it. Its Joe's call in the end. Its his money and his generosity that is the reason for this contest. so lets all just shut up about the spyderco thread and all of that. If Joe thinks that daywalker should keep the votes, then so be it, but its his call. Lets not take this thread down any more than what has happened with the "arguing" (NOTE THE QUOTES) already about "well you didnt say this.....".

sound like a plan?

You seem like a cool guy. I'm glad I was able to convey to you that the BFers who post on the Spyderco forums too, are not a bunch of jerks. We're a friendly lot.... and many of us own Kershaw knives. (no, not being sarcastic).

:)

Hi all....I came upon this thread just lurking around on the forum...I have been a member of the Spyderco Forum for a long time and a very active poster of threads on that forum until recently. I stopped posting there for my own personal reasons...but I can tell you this...Chad Los Banos (Daywalker) is one of the most gracious and outstanding individuals I have ever known. Not only is he an inovative knife designer but more importantly a great person, if you don't know him, haven't had any contact with him, you should....because you are really missing something here...I know that Chad has been a long time contributor to the Blade Forum, this alone should make him eligible to win the said knife regardless of who makes it, At the very least he is deserving your respect, I am troubled by the way some members here are trying to paint a picture of him that just isn't true...I'm sure when he reads this he will probably bow out...just because that's the kind of person he is. I spend alot of time here on BF lurking about but don't do alot of posting for sure, but I am eligible to vote and I'll cast my vote for Daywalker just as a sign and show of support for a grand individual who not only deserves this knife, but your respect, admiration and good will.....Doc

This addendem is to rule #2 of my initial post in this giveaway,.....so that from now to the end of this giveaway ONLY Kershaw forum members registered prior to 8-28-07 can vote,..... Unrestricted.

To be clear,........Kershaw members only on unrestricted voting.

Spyderco members may continue to vote if they wish,......but only for Daywalker. I don't wish to have another rally called for behind another individual in the spyderco forum and displace a regular Kershaw forum member in the giveaway.

This is also to prevent another forum jumping in who have no real interest in KAI products.

And i will say that with all the support for Daywalker,.... he must be one hell of a guy!

,......so i will be most happy to send him off one to Hawaii if he finishes in the top three,....well,.......

.......now FOUR spots! I will trust all the support behind him is well justified. ;)

So FOUR ZT 0200's or ZT 0200ST's will now be given away,........and this should clear up any conflicts with regular Kershaw Forum members.

Now lets get back to enjoying the holiday season and life in general. :)

Joejeweler, that is tremendously generous of you giving out three knives but NOW four! i salute you for your generosity!

And i own one spyderco,....for a long time now that i covered on the plain stainless side with a spyderweb and spyderco logo. I even set a diamond and fileworked the edges a bit,.......

.....i carried it as a key ring attachment for 12 to 15 years,......and it still lookes pretty neat!

....i'll post some pics soon and you all can drool over there on the Spyderco forum! :D

You seem like a cool guy. I'm glad I was able to convey to you that the BFers who post on the Spyderco forums too, are not a bunch of jerks. We're a friendly lot.... and many of us own Kershaw knives. (no, not being sarcastic).

Hell,......I didn't vote because i felt i was too new to cast a meaningful vote,.....and we have several very few post voters swinging to someonly ONLY because there was a rally cry to rig a vote.
I'm glad this has been cleared up, but I take offense to this comment. I voted because I wanted to, not because of some so called "rally cry to rig a vote". As you can see I don't post here often, but I have been a member for a year now. Just because I don't post doesn't mean I have nothing to do with the place. Hell, I've been a member at the Spyderco forum for almost a year and have barely posted there as well. If you wanted the amount of posts each voter has made to matter, you should have said so. I couldn't care less who asked for what where...I don't know anyone at the Spyderco forum and only know a few people here from other forums...but I do know who Chad is and that's why he got my vote. I'm also just as much a fan of Kershaw products, as I am of Spyderco products. I have no special allegiance to either forum.

Sorry...had to say my piece. Now, good luck to all the nominees!

Wow,.....sorry that offended you,........but you gotta admit there was a rally cry at least! ;)

And it "seemed" kinda funny that one individual posted his very 1st POST for a vote in this giveaway,.....another his 3rd post in all of 2 years,....ever!

I hope you can see that some voters responded just because of that call to arms, if you will, and why some thought it a bit unfair over here.

BTW,..... adding additional rules to cover all contingencies just is too burdonsome............i tried to keep it simple, and for a week it worked OK.
(and then i couldn't type fast enough to add votes for you know who! :D)

Also,....i respect your voicing your heartfelt opinion,........much better than:

"yep,....just got my vote in" and similiar that i read over there.

All's well now, i hope,.......:)

Here are the pics i mentioned,.....maybe i'll make a few friends over there after all. :D
NOTE: All "engraving" was done with dentist round ball burs and a Foredom flexable shaft machine on my lunch hour. It took about 35 hours in total, and was mostly freehand off a pencil sketch on the steel. The small diamond was a bit hard to set in steel,.....as i'm more accustomed to setting in softer metals.

The extra lines around the opening hole REALLY improve the grip while opening,......i did both sides for either hand. Same for the cuts where the fingers roll around the handle.

.....might even try a Kershaw someday!

great contest, very generous! I think the "personal issues" come from it lasting for too long a time frame.

I vote for Daywalker. There are many reasons why i would like him to win, but most important one is that Chad is a truly great person and a great friend. I realy hope he wins.

Joe Jewler. I sincerely like your engraving. BTW, were you featured in a knife magazine a few years ago? Just curious, Joe

Aloha ALL,

First of all, let me just say that I had NO IDEA that this was going on, but thank you to all who voted for me to win one of these ZT Knives. It was a VERY nice thing to see after a cr*ppy night in Hell...so mahalo much you guys, and especially to DiAlex for the thought. I believe he meant no disrespect to you Kershaw forum folks, and heck, we ALL like good knives, be it a Kershaw, Boker, Spyderco, Microtech, Emerson, Strider, etc. I think DiAlex was looking at this contest in this sense, to try to win Chad a "good knife"...period.

Also, thank you joejeweler for your patience and generosity by keeping me in this contest! I don't know who you are either, but you've definitely shown me a lot of..."character" by hangin' in there! Ya said in one of your posts that I must be a "nice guy" to have all these guys voting for me...guess it must be true, because you know what they say about nice guys, and it looks like that's where I am finishing!:D

That being said, let's just make this ZT Giveaway a bit...easier. I withdraw from this contest because I see a lot of "drama" in Hell, and I don't need to see it when I am off duty, especially when it was seeded with only the best of intention, and most of all...cripes, these giveaways are supposed to be "fun", not unhealthy jumps in blood pressure! ;) However, I ain't gonna lie...it was awesome seeing all the votes for "Daywalker", and I greatly appreciate you guys from the heart. You guys KNOW this to be fact...so mahalo much!

Have fun with this ZT Giveaway joejeweler, and thanks again. Happy Holidays guys and God bless!

PS: Um, joejeweler...Just for the record, yes, the support behind me is very, very well justified.;) They're a great buncha knife guys, and heck, even some guys who went against the votes for me I "know"...They are honest, great people.;)

Yeah,....i thought so too. I was originally going to do 1 a week for 3 weeks,.....but then almost a week passed and i hadn't heard back from Thomas as i wanted his imput. (didn't know he had left for personal reasons),....

.....and then there wasn't enough time to get 3 out in 3 weeks with reasonable shipping times factored in.

Anyway,...i decided to combine them and maybe the time lag was just too much for all of us!

I actually thought it would give everyone some time to really examine everyone they might want to vote for,.....and get a good feel of why that person should get one. To that end i think we did get a feel as to why there are some really great folks onboard!

That said,.....before i started writing this post i had just read Daywalker's post about dropping out,........and it shows the class that those who voted for him SEE in him.

...........and for that reason i'm saddened a bit because when i went to bed last night i thought with all i learned about him,........he would be one of the ones i would feel BEST about getting one off to!

So Daywalker,........i will accept your offer to withdraw on one simple condition,......that being you already have a ZT 0200 to enjoy.

If you don't already have one,.......and would like to see why i have been a big fan of these (along with many others),........would you PLEASE accept one from me so that i can feel good about this again? (apologize for the drama here but you are for sure what i started this about!)

Do it for the JJ man! :D (And so that your fans will feel complete also! ;))

PS,......please PM me your mailing address when you get a chance,.......it takes a bit longer getting one over to your local...........

Aloha Joe,

Sir, you were KILLING me by not replying to my post! I saw ya lurking down there and kept hitting "refresh"...nope..."refresh"...nope...then right before I was gonna call it quits, *BAM*! See, if I could, I just wanted to go to bed knowing that there was "some kinda" closure on all of this.

Hey but uh...what do you mean you're "saddened"...Joe, my name is Chad, the only "newbie" to land both Spyderco and Boker simultaneously:rolleyes: and it's my pleasure to meet you. Cripes, I dunno if I should feel insulted or what! "Hey Chad, I'm Joe...sad to meet YOU!":p

Anyway, I do not have a ZT...WAAAAAAAAAAAY outta my price range and in truth, I have not gotten any new knives lately...however, I am not sure how the folks in this forum will feel about your decision, and do not want to subject you to any further "drama"...you been through enough already...

THAT being said, well...I appreciate your gesture, and it'd be an honor to receive the ZT for sure, but uh...well, "you know"...

Tell you what...I will check back here after some sleep, and let's see what happens based on your decision. You're a good guy Joe, and I said it even BEFORE your decision so if anyone thinks I am just brown nosing, forget it...if I was "that type", I'd have stripes in Hell...:barf:

Mahalo Joe, and thanks for "listening" to my post.
God bless!
