Not quite sure, the guy sounded British and their Euro office in in the UK so I assume the cs rep I spoke to was from there. My email said Kai USA_Canada, I just assumed I spoke with the Canadian counterpart, your post prompted me to look into it further.
 
I don't blame Kai for it at all. It was more a problem with Shopatron accepting my order and then cancelling it because of the way they authorize their payment. My friend covered the cost of the knife because my school refund is still pending. While I understand the need for the security measures, I feel as though there are better ways to handle the problem than simply cancelling my order two days after the fact. The transaction was completely legitimate as far as where the funds came from and everything; it just wasn't what they were looking for apparently.
 
Sorry to hear that. Next time maybe do a transfer prior to the sale day to save any confusion. Hope you get a chance to pick one up later and good luck on the next LE release.
 
Called up Shopatron, they said they could not verify my CC info. Not sure why not, but I got it cleared up and the dude said they had inventory set aside for situations like this. That says to me that they know their system is broken and they are prepared for the fallout. Regardless, they said my 454 will ship out in a day or two so it looks like I am still getting one. Kind of a cluster****, but that's retail... At least they recognize the limitations of their system and are prepared for it, so I give them kudos for that.

Why are you calling Shopatron, they aren't the actual company that are going to be shipping them out. ZT uses them as a third party card/payment processor, all the knives are still at ZT HQ and they have no idea how many are actually in stock and what not lol
 
They're currently working though the orders, weeding out the multitude of rule breakers, plethora of declined and unauthorized CC's, and the squatter glitch...All orders should be processed today/tomorrow, and any cancellations will be notified as well.

You can say that again. First Shopatron charged me twice due to address issues, now all the money is back in my account today making me think my order was cancelled. Called KAI, they said everything looked fine and my order was still good to go. IMO they should have tried out this new way of ordering with a knife people haven't been waiting a year and a half for to work out some of the kinks. When I called, the operator at KAI asked if, by chance, I was calling about the 454, so I'm sure this is causing as much of a headache over there as it is with their customers.

I wish they included some ZT Xanax to combat the tons of anxiety in this thread. :D

Amen. I know I should just relax and let what happens happen, but that's not in my nature anyway. I don't think I'm going to relax until I open the box...
 
I think everbody knew there were going to be growing pains and unknown variables with this new process. They are learning from it and fixing it for the next round, cant ask for more than that.

Good, this gives me a little hope that my order is valid, but I'm still not totally holding my breath yet. At least they are addressing the elephant in the room finally.

WTF, *exactly* is this "squatter glitch" they referenced on the FB page? That was an irresponsible comment to make, without defining what it means. This can only lead to more speculation.

The system wasn't built to anticipate a bunch of people adding the knife to their cart with no intention on buying it. I imagine that caused some confusion and issues.

??? The system was precisely designed to throw a knife out of the cart of a "squatter" and back into the pool of available knives if they didn't complete a transaction within 15 minutes. That in fact is nearly the entire system. The devil has to be in the details of this one. As someone who came in an hour late and presumably added one of these "squatter" knives to my cart, then purchased, this comment on their FB page gives me heartburn. That's why I want to know *exactly* what it means - so I can have some idea if it impacts me, or not.

Alas, I probably won't know until I get either a shipping confirmation, or a cancellation email.

it applies to the people who intentionally abused the 15min timeout rule by adding a product to their cart they had no intention of buying. Once thrown back into the availability pool it alows others to grab them...yes this is as designed, but it implies that there were alot of people doing this and they likely didnt anticipate the volume of fallout resulting. I dont think it pertains to you at all, nor would they need to explain it further. You seem to be taking this whole process pretty personal there bud...if a fb comment gives you a physical reaction you have more problems that whether or not you are getting a 454. Remember we arent entitled to explanations of the inner workings of ZT, and this is their first attempt at such an undertaking, the proactive communication so far has been pretty damn good. As far as I can tell this was an overwhelming success....be patient, take some pepto, and chillax.
 
They should do a run of 0454M390s to give them a chance to work out the bugs before the next big release comes up!

I'm not sure the problem was people that this intentionally. I know my cart stayed populated even after I completed my transaction. I didn't even know this until I went to see if they had sold out yet and there was one still in my browser's cart some 10-15 minutes later, and my timer still said I had about 8 minutes to check out. Then I deleted it out of my cart and lo and behold the site showed 1 in stock. To me thats a "glitch".
 
I had the same thing. Bought one, 20min later there was still one in my cart. Deleted that. This morning I got an automated email from Kai asking me to come back and complete my purchase.

These are the bugs that that 0454M390 run would help them to work through.
