ZT 0777 - KAI customer service email

I wish people would stop asking/complain is it here yet ..is it here yet.... Kershaw/ZT never said the 0777 will be out on This said date... There projected release dates are not set in stone. Stuff happens...Its being made out of Devin Thomas Damascus and Vanax 35...I'm sure they had to wait to get enough of the steel in to make them. And those Beautiful CF handles are I'm sure difficult to produce too..And beyond that when everyone gets there how many people are actually gonna use them? maybe 10-15 people...the rest will sit in Safes, closets and cases never to cut a thing..Most will probably hit the exchanges marked up $200.And if you want one go buy the MT one...seen one for $2500...or get one custom made and wait a year or so and pay at least of $1000..At the end of the day its just a knife...yes I said it...Is life really so bad because your waiting for a $500 pocket knife.. I will wait for mine and not complain as they have released many cool knives in the time being to quench my knife thirst ..The ZT0350OR, ZT0550BLK, Carbon Fiber Blur, Spider Blurs, Awesome Shuns and continue to treat me like I'm family when I need a part or have a Question. Its easy to point fingers and stuff but keep in mind, look how many different knifes they produce from a Small Factory in the USA. They could start outsourcing more knives to Taiwan/China etc etc..Then someone would complain about that.

Thanks KershawLynda, Jimmer and ThomasW for all that you do!

I'm glad someone said this. Thanks chester22. And also to kershaw lynda, jimmer5, and Thomas w, thanks for all you do. Hate to say it but I'm kind of glad it will be a little bit. Spent more this month than I thought.:o

Thanks to Lynda and Jim for the response, as well as Chester. I felt similarly, and you probably already my post on the toxic forum re: the 777. And Blueginger, I am with you. I opted for more $$$ gifts for family + friends, and totally stretched my cash flow wayyy too thin. Having it a few months later, actually ends up working in my favor lol.

Thanks for the pictures, Jim!

I wanted to reply to some of the less tactful and outright coarse negative posts here, but the view is always better from the high road.

I saw how excruciatingly slow the EDM process was, as well as the cutting of the scales etc.

Keep up the great work, and I will be waiting patiently for my 777, which will be used and enjoyed just as I have done with every one of my Kershaw/ZT knives.

best

Well alright! Thanks for the update and pics Jim. I think I see one with my name on it in there somewhere.;)

I'm pretty sure we have never BS'd anyone on this subject - I think we've been pretty straightforward. The reason for the delay is the blades. Due to the high cost of the materials, the damascus in particular, we decdided early on to cut the blades with our Wire EDM rather than with the cutting Laser. The process is very slow, and this has been the biggest bottleneck from the start. We have plenty of handles/backspacers/clips/lockbars/et cetera, but the blades are coming along slowly (and will continue to be slow).

For those who feel that these knives are vaporware, here are some pics. What is it people say on the forums? Pics or it didn't happen! :D

Wow, those pics are amazing. I personally know that I won't be throwing around that much cash until I can hold one in person. Even then, its a ton of money.

But damn is it a nice looking knife.

Thank you; Lynda, Jimmer and Thomas you are all a crucial part of why I love KAI stuff:love_heart:. Also; Kudos to chester for the best rant I've seen in a while:thumbup:
I have a preorder and enjoy the wait, it will arrive! Nuff said.

But these pattern copies cuts chunks of my heart every I see them... I wish could attend a knifeshow in the US just to tell the copycats how I feel to their face.

Oh almost forgot; the new pocket clip is awesome. Looks a lot like a pen pocket clip from a bigger ballpoint pen than a knife clip:D. Good move zt/kershaw. Have had my pre order since late June and look forward to February(or whenever its ready).

I try, Thanks for the love everyone! I just hate that A Great Company and its employees that mod this Great Sub-Forum have to constantly Defend themselves. I love you guys!

Wow, looks really amazing. Thanks for sharing the updates Lynda, Jim, and Thomas!
Still kicking myself for not spending some time shooting the 0777 at Blade, this last time. I know I was dazzled by all the new offerings, but I'm still not sure what I was thinking.

Everytime the 777 is discussed, I always wonder if I'm in the Whine and cheese forum. Kind of disturbing such an amazing product has to take it from so many sides at once.

Well if all goes well, you'll have a 777 in tow and new award winning knives to shoot in 6 months or so.:D

Just to restate my experience, and that of my friend who drove us to Atlanta for Blade 2012: As I stood there fondling the 'real' 0777, I asked, with all of the delays, when they expected to have them to sell. The Kershaw employee - behind the display conter - told me that they expected to start shipping when they got back from 'the show'. My friend was told the same thing to his question. I know, silly me, I thought they meant 'that' show... the one we were attending. Perhaps no 'bs', but woefully uninformed. Good luck with it - but I'll stand with my earlier comment - perhaps it was a wee bit too ambitious of a project. Now, where is that cf Blur... that sounds interesting!

Life is full of disappointment.

Thanks for the update. Glad to see that the knives are starting to accumulate. Looking forward to receiving my 0777...and yes, it'll be carried.

Ok so I have been reading these forums for a long time but never wanted to post before but I just had to here.

A lot of you guys have rose-colored glasses on about this, I know we all like Kershaw but lets be real. The real take away I got from Thomas’s update was that “getting the 0777 to market was not a priority”. It wasn’t that machining was taking a long time, or waiting on parts, or assembly problems. It was they stopped caring about it. The thing they had already presented to the world, the thing that we, their die hard fans wanted, and they kept telling us they were working on (and was coming soon) the whole time just wasn’t worth working on.

Not that I like or own any Microtech but how do you think they were able to copy the knife and get it to market a year before Kershaw even without seeing it before Blade? They actually care about what enthusiasts want to buy and make getting it to market a priority.

I have no idea why Kershaw would (by their own admission) blow off their most ardent fans, I guess they got more tied up in what other companies were doing than thinking about their own customers.

If you are reading this, if you bought more than two ZT knives in the last year, if you have a 0777 reserved, that likely puts you in the top 1% of Kershaw’s customers. I would think that would make us their highest priority. It is a shame we aren’t.

I am still looking forward to the knife but I am not going to pretend that this isn’t a customer service failure.

So don't buy one, just means someone else will be able to.
