Zt 0900. What a great little knife.

Could someone hold it in their hand, please? I'm aware hand sizes will be different and will be rather subjective but I don't care. :p

Thanks in advance.

When ZT first put out their new models, I wasn't all that keen on them.

Then I started looking closer. They are really hidden gems. Not "fluffy/artsy/etc" (that's a good thing, IMHO) Instead, it seems they have focused their direction on producing knives that bring both tough and function to the table (and getting rid of the stuff that gets in the way....thickness). The new blade shapes are also making me really happy. My only complaint about my 0350 is the blade shape. It's a hell of a cutter, but it's also the hardest knife I have to sharpen (I don't like sharp makers, etc).

I'm very much considering dumping my 0350 and a fixed blade that I have (but don't use because it's too nice) and getting one of these new ZT's.

I would look up the various youtube videos of the knife. Not only will it paint a better picture but many of the videos have other objects in them to give a scale reference.

Oxicleaned the frame on my 0900.

Oxiclean? That's the first I've seen it mentioned. Nice color!

I got my 0900 in last week. I really like it. The action is snappy, the lockup is tight, and the S35VN sharpened up like a razor. Totally a watch pocket carry with oodles of stoutness so I don't feel the need for that second, larger blade.

Ah duh me. Forgot about that media. :p
Been very busy which made me absent minded. Thank you for the suggestion.

Uhhh. I've been wanting to do a darker acid etch and restonewash the blade, but I'm VERY interested in the oxiclean method. I assume I can find info out there on how to do it, but can you post a video or some more pictures of the oxicleaned 0900? I don't want to jump into modding my 0900 until I can get a better idea of what it will look like. All I know is I definitely need darker scales on my 0900. Unfortunately, if they turn out well, I will also have to get the 0450.

Just got mine. (Thanks CraigMang!) Yea, the 0450 is nice, but I just don't have the social fortitude to open boxes with such a long blade, heck the skeletool freaks people out. The 0900 is perfect! Did you know it has a *bearing* on the frame lock?

anyway, I've been thinking about grinding a bit holder on the tail. Should I go on the top

or bottom

? Is there another tiny flipper with Ti frames that might have more meat on the tail?

Geez, you didn't waste any time operating, didja doctor?! :highly_amused:

You may have enough room on the backside by the clip...just my two cents...anyway, glad it made it to you okay!

(Oh, and I think that bearing actually provides the detent that keeps it from falling open and just opening too easily)

Just curious why there are so many 450's and 808's for sale on the secondary market, but I have only seen a couple 900's ???

Maybe fewer made or people like them better than the others?

There have been a pretty significant number of 0900s for sale on the exchange too, and I say that as a seller of one who did his homework and followed good practices but still chose to accept a good bit less than I initially offered. I think this round of ZTs hit a lot of peoples' "sweet spots" for looks, price and size, and with that popularity comes heavy pre-sales and ZT "newbies" that results in an unavoidable percentage of folks who end up deciding the knives just aren't for them. For me, the blade shape of the 0900 wasn't conducive to the work I did; the same may be true for sellers of the others.

Well, I keep a pretty keen eye on many forums and the large auction site and haven't see any for sale in a long time. Also searched all the usual dealers and all are out of stock.

I'll keep looking!!

There is a very cool looking 0900 that has been anodized and purple splash anodizing. I am tempted.

I can't say enough about how much I love this knife. I am a big ZT fan, but have sold off a lot of my ZT collection to dip into other knives like my Duas. The 900 is a definite keeper because it is just so cool and fun to carry and flip. These two are probably my favorite knives day-to-day.

Man, seriously, I wouldn't do that. Maybe just get a little stubby nut driver from autozone?

While it's your knife and your decision, Rob, I'm inclined to agree with AD here...might wanna just enjoy it as-is for a few weeks before doing any modding. Just my two cents partner!

Yeah, this one seems like an odd fit to custom grind in a bit adapter. I would choose something with more real-estate in the handle. But should be interesting to see how it comes out. Good luck!
