Zt 777 m390 bohler steel

I have this weird feeling I'm going to get the DLC 0777 before I get the satin version I pre ordered more than a year ago

I still like my 0551 the best, with the 0561 close behind, followed by my Kershaw TILT!, JYDII in Ti/SG2, S30V Blur, 1993-2 Gentleman's Folder, etc - with the 0777 somewhere else. Just can't 'love' it!

My wife meant well in buying it for me - and wants me to have something I want... it was too expensive to reside in a box!

Fifth time out of the baggie (... with desicant pack!), pouch, and box - for the pictures. Can someone verify this for me? Are the CF sides to the 0777 solid CF or do they have a skeletonized Ti liner within? In a smaller bladed knife, like my Spydie CF Dodo, solid CF isn't a problem. But a ZT is a heavy use knife.

My favorite Bohler steel is ELMAX with m390 close behind. My Benchmades with m390 have been great performers, with my 755 MPR EDC knife a real moose. Good steel.

Solid CF with no inserts. CF is very strong. The use of CF and composites show up prominently in the Boeing 787 with nearly half the airframe being carbon fiber reinforced plastic and other composites and 15% titanium. Tremendous weight savings and lower maintenance costs. When some people first handle the ZT 0777 series it feels smaller and somehow cheaper since its so light.

Don't worry about the strength of carbon fiber. They build entire f1 cars out of it (including the suspension arms)

I think the carbon fiber is probably the least of your concerns. The blade would probably snap before the handle if you did some sort of torquing action.

0479 received. Upon first inspection the first thing I noticed was the M390 is slightly heavier ,so I inspected some more. I noticed that the blade fuller was not as deeply miilled as the original. Can anybody with both knives verify a weight, I do not have a scale. Thanks

The first thing I noticed and did not like. If you look at the blade spine its barely noticeable. Looked much cooler when it was more pronounced on the 0777.

Congratulations Manny - nice pictures too.

You mean the 0777-M390 weighs a whopping tenth of an ounce more than the 0777? That's unacceptable. :D

Nice lineup good sir!

My second 0777-M390 came in today. No pouche on this one either. Serial numbers: 0273 & 0348.

The groove in the original blades was done as a "pocket" with a smaller tool. The groove on the M390 version is made with a larger tool to create a single smooth groove. It is more of a round groove, while the original was flat bottomed pocket. Just another way of accomplishing a similar thing.

Thank you for the comparisons poolhustler. Thanks for the explanation jimmer, still a beautiful blade.
