0770 CF production question

If the CF finish of the 0770CF is anything like the 0777 we're in for a treat. It has a really good grippy texture but not rough and not so smooth. Of course, it doesn't have the 3D contouring of the 0777 (or 0770) but hopefully it's the next best thing.
 
Got my ship notice from ksf... should be in hand by Saturday. Love the 0770 but the aluminum is slick and as I said above the speed safe deployment is slower than I prefer.

Based on the pictures, the CF looks as smooth as a baby's butt to me. Textured CF would look a bit more matte in the photo.

Much the same way as it is done on G10. With textures the surface will shine or reflect light much the same as the Spyderco CF models out there (which isn't much reflection). The picture provided by Kai Corp shows ample reflection to my eyes anyway, that would suggest very little, fine, or maybe no texturing. It looks smooth to me, IOW. We'll have to wait for the 2,500 pictures to showup with dedicated links.

I went by the picture of an actual one that KSF took a couple of days ago as opposed to the one on the ZT website. I guess we'll know soon enough. Mine got shipped today.

Thanks for the heads up.

He's a fairly good presenter. Most youtube reviews drive me nuts.

I'm still pondering going 0770 but I did like he saidyou can feel the texture
 
The texture looks identical to that of the 0777 to me which is really nice. If only they could've justified adding the sculpting to match. That would've added a lot of $ though
 
Man those look sharp. I wasn't going to get one of these and I may eventually have to. ZT keeps churning out more great stuff.
 
It will be interesting to see if KAI announces any more designs like the 0770CF at the upcoming Blade Show. If they do, they'll be acting on blind faith as they haven't given themselves enough time to develop meaningful sales figures in that category since the last Blade Show.

It seems to me that if I'm going to develop a whole new category of knives, I'd want to have them available on or soon after the day they're announced. That way, I could create second and third generation knives quickly and not lose momentum if the category takes off. But then what do I know?
 
Ordered one today from BladeHQ. I certainly hope i get an email tomorrow saying that it has shipped.

You make it would like KAI intentionally delayed the 0770cf. It still hit the streets in under a year. Who's to say there wasn't an issue outside of their control. Materials, suppliers, etc etc.

You also seemed to make an awfully big assumption that they are going to be debuting more designs at Blade. I think Blade is usually just limited edition stuff. The 0770cf was just a tweak to an already announced model.

The sculpting is reminiscent of my 943 which I like. I also like finding the 0770 for half the price

Jimmer mentioned last June that it costs a lot in expensive bits to mill the tough CF and it would've made the 0770CF too expensive.
 
Bah. Got antsy and ordered a 0770. It's my first ZT so I figured I can test it out while I wait for the CF to hit the used market.
