0770 CF production question

They are awesome. Everyone here has been drooling. Sold one out of the storefront because the customer saw us looking at it so adoringly. :)

Put my order in last night. KSF shows 4 remaining in stock this morning.
Right you are. I have a pre-order in with another dealer and he's a BF good guy, so I'll wait for him to fulfill it. Otherwise I'd be on this like white on rice!

It was half full when the 0770CF was originally announced. And, of course, we don't know how many 0770CFs arrived in the first shipment. If KSF's opening inventory is any indication, I may have a lot more waiting to do if I'm going to purchase it from the dealer I placed my preorder with. But I'll be sure to let you know as soon as I receive an e-mail from him letting me know it's ready to ship.

bld522, the first run of 0770CF are out. That's what you were hoping for, and have been posting about. I'm assuming that makes you happy. You have a opportunity to buy one now.

That's correct. But there's a loyalty factor involved here. If my dealer's original order was predicated on the number of preorders he had accumulated and I (and others) purchase them elsewhere, he could get stuck holding excess inventory. I'm not prepared to do that to him unless he tells me he can't fill my preorder. I'm sure you understand . . . unless, of course, the initial shipment was so limited that you'd advise me to get one anywhere I can. Is that what you're suggesting?

I generally don't do pre-orders because my experience has been exactly this. Other sites that I am happy to do business with get stock and my pre-order drags on. I have in stock notifications set for several sites and came across the inventory at KSF almost by accident last night.

Hoping to have it in hand by Saturday. Waiting for the KSF shipping notification with baited breath.

Not to get back off topic  but I did hesitate before pulling the trigger last night because the assisted opening on my standard 0770 does not work the way I expected it to. Instead of a strong quick deployment like my Leek and ZT 0350, it sort of opens halfway unless I snap my wrist while I deploy it. I generally don't do flippers because I have tendonitis in my right elbow and the flipping motion aggravates it. Yes I have a ZT 0560, but I find myself opening it via the thumbstud more than flipping it. I put a drop of tuff glide on each side of the pivot and worked it back and forth last night after I placed my order, but I'm not sure it made a difference.

Yes, I understand your thinking. I place preorders because I never know if enough knives are going to arrive on the initial shipment to fill all the standing orders. Having said that, I just received an e-mail from my favorite Kershaw guy letting me know that his order is due to arrive today and he'll receive enough inventory to fill my order. So with any luck at all, I should receive my 0770CF by the middle of next week. (He ships FAST!!!!) :D

Now you're talking like a guy whose glass is half full again!

My glass hasn't been half empty since the 0770CF was introduced. The mere fact that ZT announced it was enough to bring it up to the half full level. The rest has been an attempt on my part to establish some agreement on the use of the English language. In that regard, however, I suspect my glass is still half empty. ;)

OK, OK, OK.......what's the one in the middle?

The Limited Edition ZT 0454 was Blade Show's 2013 Overall Knife of the Year and is based on Dmitry Sinkevich's "Cardinator" and features a three-part Composite Blade (CPM D2 on the cutting edge and spine and 14C28N in the middle all braze welded together). Very light 3D CF makes this 4.1" blade KVT flipper weigh just 4.1 ounces!

Hope ZT also makes a plain blade M390 version.
