0770 CF production question

If ZT could scale down an 0562 to incorporate a 3" blade and bring the weight down to less than 4.0 ounces, I'd definitely be in. :)

This...take my money ZT!!!! I think the 0562 with a 3" blade would be the ticket.

I was actually very surprised that Rick designed the 0562 for ZT so similar to the XM-18 3.5"! It will definitely flip better, similar quality and with the 0562CF you get premium CF scale and M390 for a street price of $240!!!

Now, perhaps we will all be shocked to hear ZT announce something very similar to the XM-18 3" but of course with KVT and weighing 3.5 ounces with G-10 and less with CF and the same Elmax/M390 as 0562. That would be the announcement of Blade Show for me!

My hope is that the 0770CF sells so well that KAI has to pay attention and bring us more lightweight knives.

Well, I'm definitely getting the 0770CF-M390 whenever (or if ever) it comes out!

Like I mentioned before, when I encountered the issue I figure I'll deal with it later, but hearing someone else, ijustdontknow, have the exact same problem. It's pretty frustrating. Especially since ZT/Kai is suppose to be high quality brand, the money paid is for the brand. They should protect their brand better, otherwise what differentiate a poor chinese copy from ZT?

Yup gonna deal with it later

I am tempted to get one as well. Love this one and the better steel would be great. But...with the 0801CF, the 0562CF, and the Spyderco Native 5 C41CFP5 (S110V & CF) coming out soon, I doubt that I'll be able to afford it. So many knives, so little $$$. :(

Only 0801CF is imminent! Native 5 CF is like the unicorn. I think the 0562CF won't be here until the end of the Summer. Who knows when we'll see the 0770CF-M390 but that keeps me from buying a second 0770CF for many months.

However, there's the Spyderco Rubicon which could well be the hottest 3" flipper with gorgeous CF made at the quality Taichung (Taiwan) plant.

Learned my lesson this one. I overpaid for my two...but that's ok, I'll sell one. And they'll both get here Friday.

Going to wait for the 0562cf to come out next time and avoid the frenzy. They'll be some readily available if it's anything like this. That should be a nice knife, too.

Gee, thanks. Yet another great knife to add to my list. :( And I guess Wife doesn't really need that operation, anyway.

:D

Seriously, that Rubicon is very, very nice. Not sure how I missed that one. If it looks anything like that prototype, it is a must-have.

Damn its cheap at knifeworks. I paid a bunch extra but at least it will be here soon.

I wasn't planning on getting one after spending the cash on the BM 940-1, but after seeing KW's price, I pulled the trigger (also, the older aluminum version seems to be cheap everywhere too).

Does the CF version use stand offs ?

It has a solid backspacer (in CF) as shown in flarp's post quoted below (CF is top knife).

BTW, you might really like this knife. It is a bit smaller physically than the Manix 2 S110V but weighs almost exactly the same. Very LW carry and I like the assisted opening (you may feel differently about that, I dunno). perhaps not as good a value as the S110V, but a great knife nonetheless. ;)

Mine came in today, and it is a beauty!

Some initial impressions (having only had the knife in my possession for about an hour so far)... The CF scales feel great in hand. They're smooth, but still pretty grippy (more so than the aluminum scales). ZT added a little jimping to the flipper, so it is easier to catch with your finger and deploy. The jimping along the liner lock was removed, which doesn't appear to affect grip (when open) or when disengaging the lock. True to ZT's pedigree, the knife has a very solid feel to it. The CF scales themselves look fantastic, and it's semi-polished on the inside of the scales as well (probably not really polished, but smoothed out to where you can see the definition of the carbon fiber). The barrel spacers were swapped out with a solid backspacer, which looks more like the 0777. The oversized pivot also looks great, again, more resembling the 0777. Final thought... YOU NEED THIS KNIFE!
