0770 CF production question

It's a smooth manual flipper action using ball bearings.

KVT is Kershaw Velocity Technology.

Veeeerrrry interesting! As yet I don't think I have one of these in my Kershaw collection.. hm...

I do have a few manual Kershaw flippers... if KVT is pretty new and smoothER than the manual flippers I have from them, it must be pretty darn amazing.

I have yet to try any of their KVT knives. Though I've heard nothing but good things about them.

The upcoming Nura 3.0 & 3.5 flippers will be using KVT. There may be others in the current lineup or upcoming.

Of the old ones Kershaw Tilt had it.

ZT has it in the 0560/0561 series, 0801 and the upcoming 0562/0562CF.

I'm gonna CHOOSE to not post in this thread any further...

Hopefully this will be ok...

Don't take anything personally. Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own dream.

The strobe is kvt as well.

All of the zt boutique knives (777,888,600,454) are kvt as well

Honestly as long a the 0770CF/M390 actually exists and I can de-assist it w/o the need for a drill press to put a detent hole in I'll be more than happy.

Hell, at this point I'd be happy with ANY version of the 0770CF. Know what I mean?

Well, I've never been an in hurry person, so I've never minded a wait for pretty much anything. I have more pressing things to deal with than when manufactures get thing finished to their liking.

Yep. It will take what it takes. And "soon" means different things to different people. Among knife manufacturers, "soon" can mean "days" or "weeks" or "months" or "years". I've even seen it mean "never".

I don't want to reopen any cans of anything here but... what is this KVT? I don't think I am familiar with the acronym. From the posts here it appears some type of A/O? Just curious what this is, I don't think I've come across it before.

Like ramzar says it is a bearing system. Usually it is coupled with a stout detent. For many users Ideally the detent will be strong enough that it will not let go of the blade until enough energy is stored to fully deploy the blade. It is similar to IKBS but differs since KVT bearings are encased in a plastic washer that prevents them from spilling out when taken apart. It accomplishes the same function as an assisted opening knife but doesnt require a spring or torsion mechanism to function and the knife closes just as a normal manual knife does without resistance.

To my way of thinking, knives that incorporate well-engineered bearing systems are more elegant than their assisted counterparts and appeal to a class of knife owner that appreciates having greater control over their knife than assisted systems provide. After all, even a caveman can open an assisted knife. ;)

Not in my neck of the woods. But I search BF at least a couple of times a day looking for it. First person to post that they've seen an 0770CF in the wild and can actually prove it wins. :)
